LA PLATA.- Gota Clara Sos maintained both her undefeated record and her dominance within the burgeoning juvenile selective process for fillies at the Hipódromo de La Plata. As she had done in the Especial Apertura and the Clásico Amílcar A. Mercader (L), the defender of the unstoppable Stud Pauli has now captured the Clásico Derli A. Gómez(G3), overcoming the challenge of moving up from the kilometer to 1,200 meters.
The chestnut had left some doubts in her previous victory, but this time everything was much more comfortable, facing just 4 rivals—2 of them non-winners—and taking full advantage of the absences of her stablemate Mayan Goddess(Made You Look) and Se Cruzan (Manipulator), who appeared to be her toughest challengers.
A member of the first crop by the promising stallion Made You Look, Gota Clara Sos performed her job perfectly and with maturity. She allowed Achispada (Have At It) to control the tempo through fractions of 23.73s and 47.83s, attacked her from the outside upon entering the homestretch, changed leads, and finished the job 150 meters from the wire.
Once in front, the heavy favorite (paying $1.90) drew away to finish 3 lengths clear of the frontrunner, who held onto the runner-up spot by a neck over Salema (Il Mercato). Further back, Beni Lara (El Benicio) and Propicia Vega (Niceto Vega), the two non-winners, arrived as best they could. The final time was 1:12.86 on a standard track.
The winner was backed by Marcelo Sueldo and Gonzalo Borda, the runaway leaders of the local standings, who continue to add victories daily.
Bred by Haras Gran Muñeca, Gota Clara Sos is out of Gota Clara Key (Key Deputy), who famously beat the males at age 2 in the Clásico Antártida Argentina (L) on the San Isidro turf, and has already produced G2-placed Full Golyatand winners Full Gotera and Full Clara, all by Full Mast.
From the family of Goteo Key (Key Deputy), Ultima Gota Cat (Easing Along), La Grieta Key (Key Deputy), and Garboso Frank (Gidu), Gota Clara Sos solidifies her leadership among the new generation of fillies in La Plata. And she is going for more.
