Grade 1 winner Unica Forma sold to Japan, will miss the Polla

The daughter of Full Mast carried the silks of Stud Pauli and achieved her defining triumph in the Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile Fillies (G1)

Japanese breeders have once again set their sights on top-tier Argentine fillies, with the sale of Unica Forma officially confirmed in recent hours. As a result, she will naturally skip next week's Gran Premio Polla de Potrancas (G1) at Hipódromo Palermo, where her connections had originally intended to run.

The daughter of Full Mast passed all veterinary inspections and is now awaiting export protocol, though it remains undisclosed whether she will fly directly to the Land of the Rising Sun or make a temporary stop in the United States—either to race again or to be bred to a leading North American stallion.

Trained by Marcelo Sueldo and carrying the silks of Stud Pauli, the dark bay logged just 4 starts on local soil, reaching her career peak in late June on the San Isidro turf course when she captured the prestigious Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile Fillies (G1).

That afternoon, the front-running Unica Forma dictated terms right out of the gate, breaking away by several lengths midway down the stretch before holding off Ruby Rose (Il Campione) by 2 1/2 lengths under jockey William Pereyra, stopping the clock in 1m37s25/100.

She began her career with a winning debut over 1,000 meters on the Palermo dirt, before finishing second to Salema (Il Mercato) in the Clásico Andrés S. Torres (G3) at La Plata. In her remaining outing, she checked in fifth behind Gran Gotera (Made You Look) in the Gran Premio de Potrancas (G1).

Unica Forma is the eighth foal out of Urbania (Roman Ruler), a winner at age 4 in San Isidro who has produced 3 other winners to date: Unlock Your Wish (Remote), Un Día Soleado (Fortify), and Ultracool (Hurricane Cat).

Urbania is a half-sister to the late Urbanizado (Slew Gin Fizz), who went undefeated in 4 starts—including a victory in the Clásico Porteño (G3)—before passing away while in training. Her pedigree also boasts multiple stakes winners Ultra Urbano (Star Dabbler) and Ultima Vuelta (Roman Ruler).

Her maternal line has consistently produced quality performers in recent years, such as Ultima Cuota (Hurricane Cat), Urban Lady (Strategic Prince), Urbanada (Slew Gin Fizz), Bichita de Luz (Fragotero), Unida (Pepenador), Universitaria (Mariache), and earlier standout Usurpador (Circinus).
