Gran Gotera returns in the Polla de Potrancas seeking her ultimate coronation

The top 2-year-old filly of the generation, a dual G1 winner, has not raced for 3 and a half months and faces an even, tough field

Dominant in the first half of the year, the outstanding Gran Gotera returns to action with giant hopes this Saturday at Palermo Racecourse. Dual G1 winner and near-certain Champion 2-Year-Old Filly of the generation, the chestnut belonging to Stud Tinta Roja makes her comeback in the Gran Premio Polla de Potrancas (G1-1600 m, dirt), one of two events that will kick off the national Triple Crown.

The daughter of Made You Look pulled off a huge upset jumping from the 1000 meters at La Plata among maidens all the way to her May 1st victory in the Gran Premio Jorge de Atucha (G1), over 1500 meters and right here. Sent to the turf at San Isidro, she did nothing short of confirming her qualities and prevailed with authority in the Gran Premio de Potrancas (G1), ratifying herself as the leader of the generation in a superb display of versatility.

Not being nominated for the Carreras de las Estrellas, Gran Gotera was not part of the field in the Juvenile Fillies(G1), and those around her decided to prepare her directly for the ultimate challenge of the division in the middle-distance. Carlos and Martín Domingo worked relentlessly during the mornings, and in almost all her workouts, the favorite demonstrated an optimal condition, ready to take on a challenge of such hierarchy.

No simple race awaits her, mainly due to the presence of Robate Un Beso (Uncle Chuck), the only undefeated filly in the field. Following an impactful debut on the northern turf, she took a firm step forward in her ascent, closing late to capture the Clásico General Luis María Campos (G2).

That day she blew past Look At To Me (Dabster) and defeated her by half a length. The latter returns quickly and seeks revenge, surrounded by great expectations on the part of Juan Saldivia and Roberto Pellegatta.

The strong names do not end there. Although arriving through minor lines of the prep process and from the turf at San Isidro, La Santa Cándida (Le Blues) and Hi Intense (Hi Happy) dream of a great performance. The former won the Clásico Marina Lezcano 20 days ago over G2 winner Gota Clara Sos (Made You Look), while the latter impressed when taking the Clásico Bayakoa (L).

Winner of the Clásico Manuel J. Güiraldes (G3), Candy Unica (Señor Candy) dropped to fourth place in the Campos, though she boasts plenty of experience. Tardona (Gidu), runner-up to Xurra (Forge) in the Clásico Miguel Luis Morales (G2), and Niña Pastori (Fortify), third behind Personal Filly (Dabster) in the Polla de Potrancas(G2), arrive with solid supporting performances at La Plata.

Gran Gotera is the favorite, but rivals are plenty. She will have to perform at her absolute best if she intends to take home the trophy.
