El Exito Eyes Third Straight in de las Américas Amid Clash of Champions;Earth God, Drive Joy, Gardel Pass and others set up a loaded field with multiple compelling rematches

The Gran Premio República Argentina (G1) meeting is shaping up to bring many of the sport’s top stars to the track, and few races promise as much as the G1 Gran Premio de las Américas – OSAF.
No horse has ever won this race three consecutive times, a milestone El Exito now aims to achieve after capturing the last two editions. The chestnut, racing for Stud F. Enrique, is also set to make his seasonal return on May 1—and with it, seek redemption against Earth God (Cosmic Trigger), who edged him out in the voting for 2025 Champion Miler at the Carlos Pellegrini Awards.
Earth God, hero of the G1 Gran Premio Palermo and G1 Joaquín S. de Anchorena, has yet to win in 2026 but has remained competitive with placings in the G2 Horacio Bustillo and G2 América.
Another champion adds further intrigue. Drive Joy (Fortify), the 2025 Champion 2-Year-Old Colt, could renew rivalry with Gardel Pass (Distinctiv Passion), who defeated him in the G1 Polla de Potrillos. Both recently returned from layoffs, setting up a compelling rematch.
Revenge will also be on the line between Nevado Catedral (Gouverneur Morris) and G1 winner Comando Secreto (War Command), who finished one-two, separated by a narrow margin, in the G2 Benito Villanueva.
A deep and talented supporting cast includes Derrida (Hat Ninja), Escape Room (Il Campione), Majority Wins (Master of Hounds), Mio Fratello (Long Island Sound), Peso Argentino (Le Blues), Qué Tarde Gris (Il Campione), Speedmaster (Fortify), Storm Sound (Hi Happy), and Vampiro Zen (Zensational), rounding out a truly outstanding field.
The winner will take home ARS 40,000,000, with total entry and confirmation fees set at ARS 1,704,000.
All signs point to the mile on May 1 at Palermo as one of the races of the year—a high-quality showdown featuring the very best of the division chasing one of its most coveted prizes.
