Güemes, Mineral and Valdivieso Stakes Add Color to Palermo’s Coming Week

The venue will open its doors on Sunday the 30th and Monday the 1st, hosting a total of four races above the regular level

The next week of racing at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo is beginning to take shape, with cards scheduled for Sunday, November 30 and Monday, December 1.

In both cases there could be a double graded feature—still to be officially confirmed—but the main spotlight will fall on Monday’s program, which includes the Clásico General Güemes (G3-1000m, dirt) and the Handicap Ráfaga (2200m, turf), both for fillies and mares, the former for 3-year-olds and up, the latter for 4-year-olds and up.

A total of nine fillies and mares have been nominated for the Güemes, with the progressive filly Envidiada (Il Campione) stepping into stakes company after three consecutive conditional victories, and likely making her first start against older rivals. Among the possible opponents are Bantia (John F Kennedy), Beau Breeze (AP Candy), Enjoy Dancing (Hi Happy), Fantastic Bomb (Hit It a Bomb), Gran Celestial (Il Mercato), La Asturiana Blue (Le Blues), Lissette Island (Lizard Island) and Madame Bic (Puerto Escondido).

The Handicap Ráfaga has drawn 14 probable runners, with Argomasa (Lucullan) assigned the top weight of 58 kilos. Joining the list are Contrast (Safety Check, 52 1/2), Curiosa Subversiva (Curioso Johan, 53 1/2), Dra. Nazli (El Rosador, 49), Emma Novela (Emmanuel, 53 1/2), Existing (Winning Prize, 54), Foggy On Song (Sixties Song, 55 1/2), Gneisenau (Winning Prize, 51), Olimpia de Epiro (Southern Cat, 49 1/2), Portal Maya (Portal del Alto, 53), Satya(True Cause, 51), Silvermist (Endorsement, 50), South Briole (South Kissing, 54 1/2) and Trova Johan (Curioso Johan, 50).

On Sunday, the two featured races will be the Mineral (L-2500m, dirt) and the Jorge Valdivieso (1200m, dirt), both open to horses aged four and up under weight-for-age conditions.

The staying event has attracted 12 candidatesAgavero (Il Mercato), El Emporio (Il Campione), El Estanciero (Fire Slam), El Quetrihué (Il Campione), Laudrup (Hurricane Cat), Lebano Vic (Víctor Security), Ninguneando(Bodemeister), Paruch (Lucullan), Sahuri (Greenspring), Saldo a Favor (Endorsement), Titanic Blade (Daniel Boone) and Travel Pass (Fortify).

The possible starters for the Jorge Valdivieso include the filly Bichita de Luz (Fragotero), alongside Decan Dall (Víctor Security), Despacito (Sabayón), Flying to the Sky (Señor Candy), Freed From Desire (Holy Boss), Mario’s Rim(Remote), Mis Padres (Tantos Años), Pripioca Mío (Lucky Island) and Ridge Prince (Strategic Prince).
