The Córdoba-based operation will offer its entire crop this Saturday; a half-sister to Strategos by Il Campione headlines the catalogue

After a week to remember, highlighted by strong performances from Amor de Contramano (Gouverneur Morris) and Candy Gloriosa (Vástago Salvaje), Stud-Haras Ojos Claros heads into its sixth Annual Sale this Saturday riding high. The Córdoba-based operation will offer its entire 2023 crop, anchored by its signature: the Candy Ride bloodline.
Amor de Contramano, bred in partnership with Haras La Pasión, romped home by 10 lengths in near-record time in the G1 Gran Premio Montevideo, while Candy Gloriosa captured the Handicap Petite Ecurie, with both victories coming just hours apart.
Set to take place at Establecimiento San Ernesto in the rural area of San Basilio, Córdoba, the sale will begin at 2:00 p.m. local time. On offer will be a dozen yearlings by sires such as Angiolo (Grand Reward), Il Campione (Scat Daddy), Lizard Island (Danehill Dancer), Mootasadir (Dansili), and the brilliant Strategos (Zensational), who carried the Ojos Claros silks to stardom and is already emerging as one of the standout first-crop sires of 2025.
Though compact in number, the catalogue is rich in quality. Topping the list is Mujer Argentina, a daughter of Il Campione out of Candy Woman (Candy Ride), making her a half-sister to none other than Strategos, as well as to Dulce Danae (Stormy Atlantic), dam of stakes winner Candy Wind (In the Dark).
Among the standouts by Strategos is Pura Stratega, out of G3 winner Pura Bellota (Manipulator) and a full sister to stakes-placed Salando Las Heridas; Chica Suburbana, the second foal out of G3-placed Smeraldina (Sidney’s Candy); and Coordenada Griega, out of Coordenada’s (Exchange Rate), a daughter of G1 winner Coordenada (Equal Stripes) and a half-sister to Derby winner Cooptado (Equal Stripes) and Cool Site (Equal Stripes), dam of Cool Day (John F Kennedy), Champion 3-Year-Old Colt and G1 Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini hero.
Another gem in the offering is Serás Vos, by Il Campione out of multiple stakes winner Candy’s Daughter (Candy Ride), already a proven producer and granddam of winners. Also catalogued is Patricio Rey (Lizard Island–Pussycat Doll, by Mutakddim), a half-brother to the consistent Push Up (Bodemeister), winner of the Handicap Sandal and runner-up in the Clásico Día de la Soberanía Nacional.
As always, Haras Ojos Claros is going all in, bringing forward a boutique group of yearlings at a time when its racing stock is delivering in a big way.
