Assigned a high weight of 129 pounds, the Forge filly headlines the field in a tribute to the legendary Córdoba-born rider

For decades, Juan Carlos Noriega has stood as a cornerstone of Argentine racing. While his elite talent in the irons requires no introduction, the legacy of the man affectionately known as "Chupino" extends far beyond the finish line. His human touch, his mentorship of fellow riders, and his role as a tireless ambassador for the sport have made him a living example for the industry.
Upon the retirement of the legendary Jorge Valdivieso, the Córdoba native seamlessly stepped into the role of the nation’s premier riding reference. Though he has won every major prize and posed for thousands of photos, it is his character, wit, and spark that will define how he is remembered for generations to come.
Fittingly, the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo hosts a handicap in his honor this Monday. Contested over a mile on the dirt, the event has attracted a field of six mares aged five and up, offering Herd Immunity (Forge) an ideal platform to regain her best form.
Assigned the top weight of 58 1/2 kg, the Angel D. Pérez trainee looks to bounce back from a disappointing effort in the Clásico Bullrich (G2). Prior to that, she had returned from a layoff with a gritty win in the Handicap Lombardo on the San Isidro dirt, following a dominant multi-length score in the Clásico México (G3) at La Plata last season.
Her primary opposition includes Timberlay (Portal del Alto, 53 kg), who enters off a solid second-place finish in the Handicap Jardy and continues to show improvement with maturity. Farra Girl (Greenspring, 53 1/2 kg) also arrives in peak condition, having secured two wins in her last three starts, and now tests the stakes ranks for the first time. The field is rounded out by Expert Advice (Il Campione, 53 1/2 kg), a mare of undeniable quality who seeks to find the consistency that has eluded her in recent outings.
