The daughter of Hi Happy, coming off a fourth-place finish in the Carreras de las Estrellas, claimed victory in the Clásico Bayakoa (L)

For the team at Haras La Providencia, securing victories with offspring of Hi Happy is always special—and all the more rewarding when those triumphs come in their own silks and at the stakes level. That was precisely the case this Saturday at San Isidro, where Hi Intense brought plenty of smiles to the Depieri family's colors with a promising victory in the Clásico Bayakoa (L, 1600 m, firm turf), the contest that filled the void left on the calendar by the removed 1000 Guineas.

Building on her fourth-place finish in the Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile Fillies (G1), Hi Intense tracked closely behind early leader Gota Clara Sos (Made You Look), who set the pace on a keen stride while frequently switching leads around the turn.

As they straightened for home, the eventual winner made a quick move on the leader, getting the jump on Ruby Rose (Il Campione). The latter launched a strong late bid in the closing yards, but could only trim the margin to a half-head at the wire. Gota Clara Sos faded late to finish third, 3 1/2 lengths further back, with the final clocking stopped at 1m37s90/100.

Now, connections at La Providencia face a decision: whether to keep Hi Intense on the turf pathway toward the Gran Premio Enrique Acebal (G1), or pivot to the dirt with an eye on the Gran Premio Polla de Potrancas (G1).

That, however, will be a question for the coming days; today's story is about savoring a success powered by their homebred champion: Hi Happy.
