The Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1) will assemble a field of 14 3-year-olds over 2,000 meters on the turf; Stay Tunelooms as a formidable threat in the country's oldest Classic

The Triple Crown once again has a contender, though the road that led him there came via a stewards' ruling rather than crossing the wire first. Linguado (Cosmic Trigger) will enter this Saturday's Gran Premio Jockey Club (G1) as the official winner of the Gran Premio Polla de Potrillos (G1), following the high-profile disqualification of Fletcher(Gershwin), holding onto the dream of sweeping the series. Yet over the 2,000 meters of turf—the second leg of the series and the centerpiece of Saturday's card at Hipódromo de San Isidro—the favorite's role tilts toward Hi Pocho(Hi Happy), whose dazzling display in the Clásico Ensayo (G3) remains fresh in memory.

A field of 14 will contest the oldest Classic in the country, a race that once again brings together intersecting formlines, surfaces, and rising prospects at a pivotal moment in the selection process. At 6:35 PM, with 80,000,000 pesos reserved for the winner, the 3-year-old division faces an examination capable of reshaping rankings and opening doors, perhaps, toward the Gran Premio Nacional (G1).

Trained by Edgardo Martucci, Linguado originally finished 6 lengths behind Fletcher at Palermo. The confirmation of the winner's positive drug test altered the official result and placed the first jewel in the hands of the son of Cosmic Trigger. Now, he must validate his elevated status on the track, handle the stretch-out to two kilometers, and meet a completely different test. The crown remains a distant goal, but he is the sole contender positioned to chase it.

Based on current form and the dominance displayed in his latest appearance, Hi Pocho earned his status as the race favorite. The Marcelo Sueldo trainee dictated terms from wire to wire in the Ensayo, controlling the tempo at will before drawing off with supreme ease to score by 6 lengths. It was a masterclass in pace management, paired with undeniable maturity—the kind that signals a colt hitting his absolute peak.

His challenge now will be to replicate that progress against a larger field under the pressure of a Group 1 environment. Free leads are rarely guaranteed, though the sheer authority of his previous triumph gives him every right to enter the contest with high expectations. If he produces a similar response, it will take an extraordinary effort to run him down.

Stay Tune (Fortify) looms as a major danger. Primed specifically for this occasion, the Stud Las Monjitasrepresentative brings proven class and experience: he won the Clásico José B. Zubiaurre on debut, finished second in the Gran Premio Gran Criterium (G1), and placed third in both the Gran Premio Estrellas Juvenile (G1) and the Gran Premio 2000 Guineas (G1). While a signature victory has eluded him, his consistent efforts keep him firmly among the leaders of the generation. This could well be his moment.

The race will also be marked by notable absences. Fletcher is serving a six-month suspension arising from his positive test in the Polla; Colorado del Monte (Strategos), the presumptive Champion 2-Year-Old Colt of his generation, was sold to Dubai, as was Hand In Hand (Il Campione). In the case of the latter, the Jockey Club was never on the agenda following his victory in the Clásico Miguel Cané (G2) or Clásico Coronel Miguel F. Martínez (G3), as his primary target remained the Nacional.

Also hailing from the Palermo dirt line is El Volka (Vekoma), Sueldo's second entrant, who finished third on the track and was ultimately elevated to second behind Linguado in the official Polla order of finish. Long considered a colt of high promise, he will attempt to turn potential into a career-defining performance. Sarraceno (Daddy Long Legs), Rugbier Boy (Suggestive Boy), and the Brazilian-bred Redemption Song (Outstrip), who chased Hi Pocho home in the Ensayo, will face him once more, seeking to close the gap and turn the tables.

Breaking from the inside post is Find Me (Pneumatic), an intriguing longshot after breaking his maiden and subsequently finishing second, beaten 1 1/2 lengths, by Lunático Bomb (Hit It a Bomb) in winner-of-one company. El Cambiao (Imperador), meanwhile, holds a unique advantage: he is the only runner in the field to have already won over the 2,000-meter distance. Jumping straight from maiden company, his proven stamina over the two kilometers is a credential that commands respect.

Rounding out the line-up are In This Moment (Fortify), coming off a maiden victory; Giannino (King Guilermi), a winner-of-one who finished seventh in the Ensayo; Tolve (Daddy Long Legs), who followed a third-place debut with a comfortable victory over Nambe (Gershwin) over the Palermo mile; Aki (Cima de Triomphe), another decisive maiden winner over the local mile; and High City (Cityscape), still maiden-less and, on paper, facing a step up in class.

Global Media Turf will broadcast the entire meeting live on its YouTube channel starting at 2:30 PM. The Jockey Club will serve as the centerpiece: Hi Pocho aims to confirm his breakout performance, Stay Tune seeks his elusive G1 triumph, and Linguado carries the dream of the Triple Crown on his shoulders.
