Hiran may not be the best sprinter in the country, but he is clearly in the group of the most outstanding ones. Returning after almost 4 months without competing, the son of Santillano stepped up to open his 2026 this Sunday at the Hipódromo de San Isidro, winning the Clásico Gentlemen (1000 m, normal turf), the best race of the day.

After a couple of weak performances, the representative of Stud Inclusión made all his experience count and, without worrying about carrying the top weight of 61 kilos, led from start to finish to end up defeating the mare La Asturiana Blue (Le Blues) by 2 1/2 bodies, in a time of 54s92/100 on the northern "cement."

Wilson Moreyra perfectly gauged the favorite's energy after a start with some bumps in which the aforementioned La Asturiana Blue touched the ground with her nose after stumbling in the first jump, narrowly escaping a fall.

As the meters passed, Hiran established himself at the front, but always running strong, passing the initial 400 meters in 22s9/100 and the 800 in 42s97/100. By that point, everything was decided, as the leader had pulled away with wide leads that were impossible to close.

As mentioned, the finish line found him with 2 1/2 lengths over the only female in the group, who was steady to secure the runner-up spot after that mishap. Half a neck back, meanwhile, the colt Vendaval Joy (Roman Joy, 53 1/2) was third, in another outstanding effort.

Bred by Haras La Pasión, Hiran is trained by Fabián David and now has 7 victories throughout his campaign, 4 of them in stakes races, having previously won the Santiago Lawrie (G3), the General Viamonte (G3), and the Lamadrid(L), always competing over the kilometer.

Hiran, a maternal brother to G1 winners Humor Acido (Emperor Richard) and Humorada Negra (Emperor Richard), and G2 winner Humorada Lírica (Sidney's Candy), is leaving his mark in sprinting and now aims for a strong performance at the highest level, where the first big challenge of 2026 will arrive on May 1 at Palermo, with the Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G1).
