Said Mauro Castellazi After Watching Full Siblings Agradecida Pass and Encantador Pass—Both Carrying the Stud Pauli Colors—Win on the Same Day at La Plata in Stakes Over 1100 Meters with Identical Times

LA PLATA.- What unfolded Tuesday at the local tracks was unprecedented, at least in recent memory. While it has occasionally happened that siblings win on the same card, it is nearly unheard of for two horses sharing the same genetics, bred at the same farm, racing under the same colors, and guided by the same team to capture graded events on the same day over the same distance—and nearly the same time.

The stars of this remarkable story were Agradecida Pass, victorious in the Handicap José Hernández, and Encantador Pass, who later dominated the young southern sprint division with a decisive triumph in the Clásico Jockey Club de Azul (1100 m, dirt).

Both are offspring of Distinctiv Passion and the dual G3 winner La Agradable Key (Key Deputy), bred at Haras El Alfalfar, carrying the Stud Pauli colors, trained by Marcelo Sueldo—with Juan P. E. Díaz handling entries—and ridden by Gonzalo Borda.

Perhaps the most astonishing detail: while the mare posted 1:04.22 in the handicap, her brother stopped the clock at 1:04.21 in the classic. As owner Mauro Castellazi remarked, “You could try this a million years in a row, and it wouldn’t happen.”

Regarding Encantador Pass, he remained unbeaten at La Plata with a commanding performance. Tracking the leader Viejo Cuchara (Il Campione) throughout, he moved to the front at the top of the stretch and quickly opened up. His powerful finish carried him 2½ lengths clear of Valdobbio (Hit It a Bomb), with favorite Antiguo Secreto (Angiolo)rallying to take third, a neck behind the runner-up. Further back, Norte (Leofric) completed the superfecta.

Encantador Pass capped a story that will be remembered in the record books and confirmed he will be a major player in sprinting events with elbows.
