The Stud Haras El Ángel de Venecia runner heads the list of confirmed starters for Argentina’s great national race

Everything is now set. The 2025 edition of the Gran Premio 25 de Mayo (G1-2400m) has its field officially confirmed. On a special national holiday card, the country’s best turf stayers will take center stage on a festive afternoon that will also feature three additional Group 1 events, with hopes that the public will respond strongly from the grandstands.
Alongside the Gran Premio Gran Criterium (G1-1600m), Gran Premio de Potrancas (G1-1600m), and Gran Premio Copa Diamante (G1-1600m), the second most important race each season for older horses at the Jockey Club venue will distribute 100,000,000 pesos in prize money, with 50,000,000 pesos reserved for the winner.
Following Monday’s final declarations, the field was reduced to 12 runners, headed by Honest Boy (Heliostatic), winner of the 2025 edition and recent impressive victor of the Clásico Porteño (G3) in his comeback effort, now seeking a place in history.
The Stud-Haras El Ángel de Venecia runner will attempt to emulate Ordak Dan (Hidden Truth), the last horse to win the race multiple times, having captured the trophy in 2013, 2015, and 2017.
The chestnut will once again meet Equal Mostaza (Equal Stripes), Full Keynote (Full Mast), and Out of the Blue (BRZ-Drosselmeyer), all of whom he defeated in the Porteño, naturally with hopes of repeating the result.
But the likely favorite will face many additional dangers.
Among them is the returning Time to Think (Seahenge), sidelined since finishing seventh in December’s Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1) after previously demolishing his rivals in the Clásico Yatasto (G3) and finishing third in the Gran Premio Copa de Oro (G1).
Also confirmed is Sono Perfetto (Tetaze), the leading 3-year-old of the 2025 La Plata season, who enters off a victory in the Clásico Comparación (L) following a fourth-place finish in the Gran Premio de Otoño (G2).
The highly experienced G1 winner Epityrum (Portal del Alto) will also line up, while Holy Holy Rim (Remote)arrives in career-best form after capturing the Handicap Arturo A.
The field is completed by Castañón Rim (Remote), Curious Song (Sixties Song), Magnum Fifth (Daniel Boone), and Neat Colt (Treasure Beach).
This Tuesday’s post-position draw will officially finalize preparations for the Gran Premio 25 de Mayo.
