Humor Político, and another stakes victory for Argentina in Chile

The son of Señor Candy prevailed this Thursday in the Radio Portales, run over 1,000 meters on the main dirt track at Hipódromo Chile

SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Chile (Special for Turf Diario).— The outstanding form of the Argentine-bred Humor Políticocontinues on this side of the Andes. Case in point, he emerged as one of the standout performers this Thursday at Hipódromo Chile, commanding the field in the Clásico Radio Portales, run over 1,000 meters on a fast main track.

Carrying 55 kilograms, the chestnut proved unstoppable. He was active in the early running, but it was in the home stretch where he unleashed his full power, quickly collaring Il Tonino (Monthir, 50) and drawing away with supreme ease.

The wire found the Alejandro Padovani trainee 2 1/4 lengths clear of that same opponent, with Sub Star (Mendelssohn, 56) finishing third another length back, all in a final time of 55s32/100. Heavy favorite Mi Amigo Coto (Spun to Run, 61) failed to overcome his top weight assignment and could only manage an eighth-place finish, beating just one rival while ending 8 3/4 lengths behind the winner.

Defending the colors of Stud Don Bernardo, Humor Político was bred by Haras La Manija and is a son of the prolific Señor Candy out of the accomplished racemare Humorada Lírica (Sidney's Candy)—winner of the Clásico Francia(L) on the San Isidro turf straight—boasting a rare 2 x 3 inbreeding to Candy Ride (Ride the Rails).

Humorada Lírica is a half-sister to Humorada Negra (Emperor Richard), who famously defeated the males in both the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G1) and the Clásico Ciudad de La Plata (G2); Humor Acido (Emperor Richard), hero of the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G1) and the Gran Premio Estrellas Sprint (G1); Hirán(Santillano), a multiple graded stakes winner currently in training; and Humorista (Roman Ruler), a 5-time winner who has already produced the lightning-fast Humor Sabatino (Sabayón).

Now a 5-year-old, Humor Político boasts 7 victories in Chile from 17 starts, with 3 of those wins coming at the stakes level—having previously captured the Clásico Fundación Las Rosas and the Clásico Enfático over 1,000 and 1,200 meters at the same venue. Additionally, he finished second in the Clásico Dirección General de Fomento Equino y Remonta, and fifth in both the Clásico Il Campione and the Clásico Monin.
