The Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo will once again serve as a focal point for Argentine racing this Monday, with a 12-race program set to get underway at 3:00 p.m. local time. The featured event is the Handicap Hunter’s Moon, a 1,000-meter dash open to horses aged 5 and up, bringing together a number of intriguing sprinters from the division’s intermediate ranks.

Several runners appear to hold strong claims. Aires de Gloria (Angiolo, 60) will shoulder top weight, a clear sign of the regard in which he is held. Partnered by Kevin Banegas, he comes off a solid second to El Luciano (Il Campione) in the Clásico Aristophanes and rates a major player.

Long regarded as a horse of considerable potential, El Fruto (Il Campione, 58 1/2) may be poised to return to his best. He resurfaced with a ninth-place finish behind El Epecuén (Il Campione) in the G1 Gran Premio Maipú and now looks ready to show the form that once saw him finish second in both the G1 Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires and the G1 Estrellas Sprint.

Bank One (Lenovo, 57) continues to knock on the door. While the breakthrough victory has proven elusive, his consistency—alternating between straight sprints and turns—keeps him firmly among the leading chances.

Dropping noticeably in class, Ruler Man (Manipulator, 54) has every right to factor into the finish, while Funny Kid(Horse Greeley, 53), lightly weighted and still competitive at seven, is another capable of making his presence felt.

Veteran Paris Tech (Lenovo), now nine, is expected to be prominent early and could look to steal it if allowed too much freedom up front, adding another layer of intrigue to what shapes up as an open and engaging renewal of the Hunter’s Moon.
