The Hipódromo de San Isidro is gearing up for the upcoming Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1). As a lead-in, this Wednesday will offer a far stronger program than the usual midweek standard.

Beyond several allowance races worth a look, the card features two principal attractions: the Clásico Latency (L–1200m, dirt) and the Handicap Val D’Or (1600m, dirt). The former is for horses three and older, and the latter for runners aged five and up, both contested under allowance conditions.

In the race honoring the crack of Las Dos Manos, the absence of Garboso Frank (Gidu)—one of the major contenders on paper—opens the picture considerably for the improving Huracán Risk (Security Risk, 55.5kg). Well-treated at the weights, he defeated that rival by five lengths when they met in the Clásico Remigio Fernández Moreno.

Since then, the Stud Mis Hijos runner delivered a strong performance in the Clásico Ciudad de La Plata (G2) at La Plata, finishing fifth, 3 1/2 lengths behind El Resero Con Capa (Angiolo).

A serious threat is the consistent Approval Cat (Southern Cat, 59.5kg), who concedes significant weight. Winner of the Handicap Domingo E. Pascual, he arrives off a third-place finish in the Clásico Revista Palermo, behind El Mejor Recuerdo (Il Campione) and Despacito (Sabayón).

Not far behind in consideration is Mario’s Rim (Remote, 56kg), who is regaining past form, while the lightweight mare Ponderosa Texana (Nashville Texan, 51.5kg) seeks to spring an upset.

A short while later comes a very competitive Handicap Val D’Or, loaded with contenders and quality horses. The pace could be hot with the likes of the highweighted Atomic Trigger (Cosmic Trigger, 62kg), the classy Ronda de Ases(Forge, 58kg), and the always respected Ilustrado (Cosmic Trigger, 53kg).

Also in the gate will be Valle Barún (Vástago Salvaje, 56.5kg), who was beaten only half a length by Atomic Trigger in the Handicap Mackenzie Society Gathering 2025; Monsieur Delon (Il Campione, 59kg), a graded winner looking to regain his best; Western Orpen (Orpen, 57kg), entering off a three-race winning streak; and the G1-placed Touch the Stars (Fortify, 58.5kg), who arrives with back-to-back victories.
