If Tobera can recall her best form, she has a chance to redeem herself over 1,800 meters in the Handicap Ipe

The daughter of Fortify will face five rivals in the feature race but is coming off two lackluster efforts in allowance company

After Wednesday’s refreshing dose of quality, lower-level racing returns to San Isidro on Friday, with the day’s highlight coming in the sixth race—the 1,800-meter Handicap Ipe on dirt for fillies and mares four and up, offering a winner’s prize of AR$6,030,000.
A compact and evenly matched field of six will go to post, with no clear standout. If Tobera (Fortify, 57) can rediscover her best form, she could take this with ease, but her last two outings in allowance company have been disappointing.
Previously, she finished third behind Vision Triomphee (Cima de Triomphe) and Luz Delito (Lizard Island) in the Clásico Los Haras (G2) and fourth to the latter by just over two lengths in the Clásico Apertura (G2). As a juvenile, she was second in both the Polla de Potrancas (G2) and Miguel Luis Morales (G2), as well as third in the Gran Premio Selección de Potrancas (G1).
Should the Vacación homebred fail to bounce back, Brazilian-bred Urtima Viaje (Eyeofthetiger, 57) will be ready to capitalize. The Stud Belair runner is in fine form, having won two of her last three starts, including a comfortable score over Playa Chopera (Treasure Beach) last time out.
Trainer Jorge Mayansky Neer has done well with his filly, who enjoys setting the pace, and this race could unfold perfectly for her to dictate terms and prove uncatchable down the lane.
Clare (Puerto Escondido, 55) lacks consistency but occasionally delivers a strong effort. She comes off a runner-up finish behind Furiosa Vis (Furious Key) over a rain-softened mile at La Plata and steps back up in class with an eye on an upset.
Just days ago, Elvi Grace (Southern Cat, 56 1/2) finished third, beaten five lengths by Poker Mommy (Daddy Long Legs) in the Handicap Elías Antúnez, and she wheels back quickly, looking to carry that momentum forward.
Rounding out the field are Queen of Córdoba (Almanzor, 54) and Gritona Re (Safety Check, 55), both slightly below the top contenders but not out of the mix.
