With April in the books, the divisional leaders continue to solidify their positions—but with several Gran Premios on tap in May, the rankings could soon see a shakeup

With the first third of the season in the books and few high-stakes races to shake up the leaderboard, Argentina’s breeding and racing statistics remain relatively stable—but that’s expected to change in May, when the calendar heats up with several top-level contests.
As of April 30, Il Campione (Scat Daddy) leads the stallion rankings according to Stud Book Argentino, extending his momentum after being named Stallion of the Year at the 2024 Distinciones Carlos Pellegrini. He enjoys a comfortable advantage over Fortify (Distorted Humor), with Remote (Dansili) sitting third. Local sires Hi Happy (Pure Prize) and Angiolo (Grand Reward) round out the top five.
In the broodmare sire category, margins are tighter. Orpen (Lure) holds a narrow edge, fending off a fast-closing Easing Along (Storm Cat) by just over 10 million pesos. Further back, Sebi Halo (Southern Halo), Pure Prize, and Not for Sale(Parade Marshal) are in close contention for third place.
Haras El Paraíso, named Breeder of the Year once again in 2024, maintains its lead among breeders, with Firmamentoin pursuit. La Pasión has solidified its spot in third, while Abolengo and Vacación are neck and neck for the final two spots in the top five.
The Firmamento operation is also making waves among owners, propelled by a stellar April that included victories in both the G2 Chevalier and G2 Ramírez. The powerhouse stable now enjoys nearly double the earnings of second-place Tinta Roja, with Mamina, El Alfalfar, and La Providencia following closely behind.
On the equine leaderboard, Grezzo (Hi Happy) remains atop the earnings list, though his lead has narrowed with El Exito(Il Campione) continuing to thrive over middle distances. Among fillies, Sarzana Pass (Distinctiv Passion) holds a slim lead over Ceniza Pampa (Hat Ninja) and Obra Clásica (Suggestive Boy).
