The Sabat Husson mare stands out as the one to beat in Tuesday’s Mad Corsaria Mile, facing a field of five rivals at La Plata

LA PLATA.- The Clásico Mad Corsaria, run over a mile and reserved for fillies and mares four and up with at least three career wins, will take center stage this Tuesday at the Hipódromo de La Plata, headlining a 14-race program.
The race offers an appealing mix of mares in peak form and others looking to regain their best touch. Among the former stands Illa Alegre, who at seven years old is enjoying a career-best season.
Stretching out to 2000 meters last time, the daughter of Sabat Husson turned in a dominant performance to capture the Clásico Hipódromo Independencia de Rosario (G3) in decisive fashion, showing stamina and authority few expected. Now cutting back to a mile and carrying top weight of 60 kilos, she faces the lighter Soy La Líder (Manipulator), who gets in at 52.
A Stud Santa Rita representative, Soy La Líder was one of La Plata’s standout fillies last season. Fourth to Illa Alegrein her most recent start, she nonetheless has credentials that make her a legitimate threat—such as her victory in the Clásico Andrés S. Torres (G3) and multiple graded placings.
Also in the lineup is Vengan y Vean (Manipulator), who has finished ahead of several of these rivals in her recent Palermo outings, while Nipotina (Treasure Beach) enters on a high after back-to-back local wins. Red Chily (Il Mercato) also arrives off a last-start victory, and Señora Maga (Señor Candy), runner-up to La Nicolina (El Moisés) in the Especial Haras Orilla del Monte, looks ready to build on that performance.
With proven class at longer distances and a solid recent résumé, Illa Alegre looms as the mare to beat—but she’ll have to overcome both the weight and several in-form challengers to add another chapter to her remarkable late-career resurgence.
