The Azul-trained got the better of favored Eccentric by a head in the 1400-meter Especial Don Bildo

Showing plenty of grit, Impregnado Sr earned his first official victory with a narrow decision over favored Eccentric (Il Campione) in Sunday’s 1400-meter Especial Don Bildo on the main track at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, one of two races on the card restricted exclusively to runners from Argentina’s interior provinces that added extra color to the afternoon’s program, which proved a complete success.
With a pair of runner-up efforts at Hipódromo de Azul, where he is based, and a distant third last time out in the Clásico Estrellas Dirt during the Fundación Equina Argentina meeting a month and a half ago, the son of Señor Candy and Impensadamente (Roman Ruler) did not enjoy an easy trip here. He was pinned down on the rail throughout, even having to steady on the far turn to avoid clipping heels.
Once straightened for home, jockey Jorge Peralta stuck to the inside path, finally finding a seam approaching the 300-meter mark—just as a wide-rallying Eccentric was launching his bid. The pair settled down to a head-to-head duel, with Impregnado Sr edging clear in the final strides to prevail by a head. Four lengths back, The Notebook (Strategos) rounded out the trifecta, the final time reading 1:24.61.
Trained by Marcelo Pérez for Caballeriza Manolito, bred by Haras Pozo de Luna, and from the same female family as champion Interaction (Easing Along), Impregnado Sr showed both quality and courage to secure that long-awaited first photo, marking himself as one to follow going forward to see just how far his talent can take him.
