For the first time in her long career, the admirable Reina Casada managed to string together back-to-back victories, further confirming the excellent form she is enjoying as she approaches her seventh birthday. While most mares her age are already retired to the breeding shed, the daughter of Long Island Sound continues delivering memorable moments to her connections, like the one she produced Wednesday at Hipódromo de San Isidro, capturing the Especial Seductor (2000m, fast dirt).

Already victorious in the Especial Neápolis over a mile, the Enrique Martín Ferro trainee scored a visually beautiful win this time, with Gustavo Calvente timing the rally of the Stud San Isidro mare to absolute perfection in order to nail Farra Girl (Greenspring, 56) right on the wire.

Assigned the demanding topweight of 60 kilos—the scale based on races won—Reina Casada settled in fifth while Farra Girl moved to the lead on the backstretch and set a sustained pace through fractions of :25.36, :48.44, and 1:12.39.

Turning for home, the leader kicked clear and appeared on her way to victory, but Calvente judged the closing run of the winner with pinpoint precision, as Reina Casada surged in the final strides to prevail by half a head in 2:02.16. Three lengths farther back, Playa Chopera (Treasure Beach, 56), who had tracked in second throughout, completed the podium.
