The one that just passed was a weekend of legends. Constitution Hill (Blue Brasil) filled Southwell, in England, in his debut on the flat, and an ovation received him after his victory; in San Isidro, Labrado (Le Blues) and Colifato Novo(Lenovo) returned to victory and confirmed their eternal romance with the fans; even in Hong Kong, the turf enjoyed an idol like Ka Ying Rising (Shamexpress) reaching his eighteenth consecutive victory and breaking a record of almost two decades...

Despacito did not want to be outdone by his colleagues and continued writing his own, shining in the Handicap Court Harwell (1200 m, normal dirt) on Monday at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, to achieve the seventeenth conquest of his impressive campaign.

What qualifying adjective is left to use for the formidable son of Sabayón? Truthfully, practically none. He could be labeled as an ideal model of a perfect horse. He runs, and he runs hard; he wins, and he wins a lot. He has health to spare; his owners enjoy him on the tracks and during the week. Heading toward 9 years old, he continues to show signs of validity, supported by a monumental job to keep him in shape at the Hipódromo de Santa Rosa, La Pampa, by the team headed by Darío Periga, one of the trainers based in the interior of the country who shines the most in the major circuits.

The bay also has an ideal partner in Facundo Coria, the jockey who knows him like no one else, who knows how to squeeze him to the limit when it's time to decide the race, and who doesn't punish him if it's not his best day. Intelligent.

In the Court Harwell, Despacito carried a heavy 61 kilos, 1 less than the favorite Rugiente (Il Campione), whom he defeated by 3 lengths, taking revenge for the previous confrontation between the two.

He never traveled too far back while Por Ahí (Strategic Prince, 55 1/2) set the pace, accelerated midway through the straight, and by the 150-meter mark made contact with the lead to never let go, pulling away with ease from then on.

Under pressure, Rugiente charged to be second almost at the wire, leaving Flying to the Sky (Señor Candy, 57 1/2) in third by half a neck, with Por Ahí fourth by half a head, all in a time of 1m11s27/100.

From Stud Los Amigos, and bred by Héctor Antonio, Despacito once again did his job, giving it all to keep adding. In a week of cracks, the grandson of Indian Charlie joined the list of those different horses that shone in the last few hours. He may not be Invasor (Candy Stripes) or Candy Ride (Ride the Rails), but in his own way, he belongs to the group of the special ones.
