In just 286 days since receiving his license to ride in top-level races, Lucas González reached the required 120 victories to officially graduate as a jockey, meaning he will no longer benefit from the apprentice weight allowance. A native of Embalse, Córdoba, the 22-year-old rider secured a smart double Thursday at Hipódromo de San Isidro to seal the milestone.

His first win of the day came aboard Una Flecha (Treasure BeachUna Diosa, by Catcher In the Rye), a homebred for Stud-Haras El Chañar, who broke her maiden in her sixth start at age four, going a mile in the Premio Indro, an alternative condition race.

Later that evening, González clinched his 120th and final apprentice win with Condorito Mad (ConversorThe Great Mani, by El Sembrador, bred by Mateo Calvo) in the Premio Storm Rotter (1100 meters, dirt). The five-year-old gelding finally earned his first victory after 18 tries.

Named Argentina’s 2024 Apprentice Jockey of the Year, González has ridden in 970 official races to date, posting a 12% strike rate and accumulating purses totaling ARS 688,450,926. Two of his wins came in black-type company: one just days ago aboard Señor Dan (Señor Candy) in the Jockey Club de Mendoza, and the other late last year with India Cheat (Suggestive Boy) in the Blue Prize at San Isidro.

Señor Dan also gave González his highest number of wins with a single horse—five in total. Among trainers, he found the winner’s circle most often for Armando Glades (11 wins), followed by Facundo Ortíz (7), Carlos Cardón (6), Roberto Gutiérrez (5), Juan Saldivia (4), Omar Labanca (4), and Mario Luis Glades (2).

Among the undercard races, there were three events for 3-year-old winners of one, all optional claiming types over 1100 meters. The two divisions of the Premio Sonny Bill, restricted to fillies, went to Che Solita (ZensationalStormy Royalty, by Bernstein, bred by Patricio F. Losinno) and Casti Amanti (Il MercatoCipressi, by Easing Along, bred by Haras La Pasión).

The colts and geldings faced off in the Premio Candy and Giant, where Pradet (OrpenPuerto Azul, by Bertrando, bred by Haras La Manija) scored decisively for Rosario.

Total handle for the 14-race card amounted to ARS 355,763,182, averaging ARS 25,411,655 per race.
