The mare from Rubio B. exacted her revenge on Costa Dark, who had previously defeated her in the Handicap Tatán, by beating her by 3/4 of a length

In the Handicap Court Harwell mile, Galitza (Bodemeister, 55 1/2) turned the tables on Costa Dark (In the Dark, 58 1/2), who had defeated her just a few weeks ago in the Handicap Tatán, although that race was over 1,800 meters.
That time, the two were separated by a head, but now the margin, reversed, was 3/4 of a length, which speaks to the striking parity between them. In fact, they even offered the same payout: $2.15.
As if to mirror the Tatán, Noche Plateada (In the Dark, 55 1/2) finished third once again, but much closer this time, as the three-length gap was reduced to a head.
The race unfolded as expected, with Costa Dark asserting herself at the front along the rail, and Galitza, ridden by William Pereyra, staying close, applying pressure and not allowing her rival to pull away. Not far behind, Noche Plateada was tracking them.
When they hit the stretch, Galitza quickly took control down the center of the track, but wasn’t able to pull away, maintaining a slim advantage all the way to the line, with Costa Dark fighting back and refusing to give up. On the outside, Noche Plateada closed late to complete the trifecta. The time was a solid 1:35.31. The rest of the field finished well behind, with Masnou (Safety Check, 54 1/2), another of the contenders, trailing in an unusual performance.
Bred by Haras La Pasión and racing for Stud Rubio B., Galitza is trained by Juan C. Etchechoury and is slowly living up to the high expectations she earned from the start. Notably, she has already undergone two lengthy breaks during her campaign.
Now with three victories from just 10 starts, Galitza will likely make her bid in the classic ranks in what will likely be the final phase of her career—she turns six midway through the season.
Galitza is the first foal of the accomplished Golden Yoga (Easing Along), winner of the Lotería Nacional (G3) and the México (G3) during her career.
