Inner Circle led the way at the Gran Venta Selecta del Haras Abolengo, held Tuesday at the Tattersall del Hipódromo de San Isidro under the organization of (Arg) Sales.

A member of the first crop by Pneumatic (Uncle Mo), the chestnut filly was knocked down for $120,000 (official exchange rate) to Stud Toroquemero, the same silks carried by her half-brother Intense for Me (Fortify), winner of the 2024 G1 Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini before being exported to Saudi Arabia, where he concluded his campaign with a run in the G1 Saudi Cup in February.

Out of the classy Intense Look (Halo Sunshine), Inner Circle is also a half-sister to G1 winner In Your Honor (Asiatic Boy), G2 scorer In Her Honour (Exchange Rate), and G1-placed International Look (Cosmic Trigger), all representing Abolengo’s storied “I” family, one of the stud’s most iconic female lines.

The second-highest price of the day came for Sayumi, who brought $110,000 from Stud Las Monjitas. Also by Pneumatic, the filly is a half-sister to G1 winner and track record-setter Satu (Catcher In the Rye) and Sachi (Cosmic Trigger), who recently made a smashing 2-year-old debut at Palermo. Their pedigree also features Subsanador (Fortify), a G1 winner in the U.S. in 2024.

Rounding out the top three was Cool Bro, another son of Pneumatic, out of Cool Site (Equal Stripes) and thus a half-brother to Cool Day (John F Kennedy), Champion 3-Year-Old and winner of both the G1 Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini and G1 Copa de Oro. He was also purchased by Stud Toroquemero, for $92,000.

In fact, the five highest prices of the sale all went to offspring of Pneumatic, confirming the high expectations that accompanied his sales debut this season.

A total of 60 yearlings changed hands—two were absent and five failed to meet their reserves—for an aggregate of $2,111,000, with an average price of $35,183 and a median of $31,580.

With a successful Select Sale in the books, Haras Abolengo now shifts its focus to the upcoming Gran Venta Estrellas, another cornerstone of the Argentine auction calendar.
