The colt, belonging to the first crop of the unforgettable champion, scored wire-to-wire at Del Mar and left a huge impression; next stop could be the Del Mar Futurity (G1)

DEL MAR, California (Special for Turf Diario).— The name Flightline is once again generating enormous buzz on the racetrack, this time through his first crop of juveniles. And one of them, Inshallah, took an eye-catching first step by winning on debut in a $100,000 maiden special weight contested over 1100 meters at Del MarHacer clic para abrir el panel lateral y obtener más información.
This is no ordinary colt. Inshallah commanded a price tag of $2.1 million, is out of Breeders' Cup winner Bar of Gold (Medaglia d'Oro), and, adding even more magic to the storyline, is conditioned by John Sadler—the very same trainer who guided Flightline through his flawless career.
Sent off as the heavy betting favorite, Inshallah delivered on the high expectations. With Joel Rosario up, he broke cleanly to seize the lead early and, by the 600-meter mark, had already opened up a 5-length cushion.
Turning into the stretch still holding a 3 1/2-length advantage, he safely kept Icanthelpmyself (Mo Town) at bay despite the runner-up cutting into the margin late, crossing the wire 1 1/2 lengths clear. The official time was 1m03.11s over a fast track.
“We are very happy and excited to see him show that kind of speed in his first start. You think you have a good horse, but for him to show that much quickness was really exciting,” Sadler explained in statements to Paulick Report.
While the gap closed somewhat late on, the trainer was quick to dismiss any concern: “Rosario geared him down near the wire. He knew the job was already done.”
Inshallah had built immense anticipation long before ever making an official start. Bred in New York by Chester and Mary Broman, he was secured by Pedro Lanz, agent for KAS Stables, for $2.1 million at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale.
His pedigree easily justifies the heavy price tag. By Flightline, he is out of Bar of Gold (Medaglia d'Oro), who scored the defining win of her own career right at Del MarHacer clic para abrir el panel lateral y obtener más información when capturing the 2017 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (G1). Furthermore, the mare has already produced graded stakes winner Coinage (Tapit).
For Sadler, this chapter holds special significance. Flightline passed through his stable during that unforgettable six-race, six-victory campaign, crafting one of the most brilliant dominance stories in modern American racing history.
The son of Tapit won, among other marquee events, the 2022 Pacific Classic (G1) by 19 1/4 lengths before closing out his career by drawing off by 8 1/4 lengths over Olympiad (Speightstown) in the Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) at Keeneland. Those performances earned him Horse of the Year honors that season.
Now, members of his first crop are beginning to make their racetrack debuts, naturally drawing intense scrutiny. Inshallah has just provided every reason to fuel those high expectations even further.
Sadler had previously indicated he had no intention of rushing the colt, a patient approach he maintained after the victory. No firm target has been set yet for his second outing.
“We don't have a plan. We'll see what he shows us,” he told Paulick Report.
However, when asked about the possibility of pointing directly toward the Del Mar Futurity (G1), one of the meeting's premier 2-year-old events, Sadler left the door wide open, confirming the race is “not ruled out.”
For now, there is no need to look too far down the road. Inshallah needed to start proving on the racetrack everything his pedigree, auction price, and workouts promised. He passed his first test with authority, leaving the clear impression that there is plenty more yet to be uncovered.
