Hamburgo hammers for $37,000 to Blacktype Bloodstock, agent; selective market leads to several RNAs

The first crop by the standout Ivar (BRZ) continues to make waves in the sales rings. Following excellent results for his offspring at the Haras Abolengo Select Sale and the Haras La Nora Annual Sale, the stallion shone once again during the traditional Haras Santa María de Araras Annual Sale. The event was held this Wednesday in a fully online format, organized by (Arg) Sales.
Top honors went to Hamburg, a colt born July 17, 2024, who was acquired by Blacktype Bloodstock for $37,000 after several minutes of spirited digital bidding. The bay is the first foal out of Hony Boone (Daniel Boone), a standout performer for Julio Bozano who won five races at San Isidro, including the Omega (G2) and Sibila (G2) stakes. He hails from one of the farm’s foundational families, that of the iconic Blessings (Floribunda).
The second-highest price of the auction belonged to another first-crop sire, Capensis (Tapit). A gray colt named Químico, born September 3, brought a final bid of $32,000 from José Hernández. The colt is a half-brother to the Uruguayan winner Quorum (Daniel Boone) and Qué Bombón (Daniel Boone), a four-time winner at San Isidro. His dam, Quick Eagle (Forestry), is a sister to stakes winners Darling Fan (Heliostatic) and Quibala (Forestry).
Rounding out the top three was Clix (Cityscape), a half-brother to stakes-placed Castell Queen (Daniel Boone), purchased for $26,000 by trainer Javier Fren, agent.
The market proved selective, with 15 offerings failing to meet their reserves, including Vortice (Ivar), a half-brother to multi-champion Village King (Campanologist), who was considered one of the catalog's star attractions. In total, 35 yearlings changed hands for a gross of $334,000, resulting in an average of $9,543 and a median of $7,428.
