The daughter of Señor Candy shapes up as a leading contender for the Especial Empress Jackie at La Plata

LA PLATA.- Another long program awaits this Thursday at the local racetrack, with the feature being the Especial Empress Jackie, scheduled over 1400 meters for mares aged four and up with three or more career wins.
With only six runners confirmed, it shapes up as a good opportunity for Jalimba (Señor Candy) to return to the winner’s circle, even though she will be carrying topweight of 56kg. Always a generous campaigner, the chestnut mare trained by Omar Labanca and to be ridden by Lautaro Balmaceda comes off a narrow defeat, going down by half a head when runner-up to Emma Linda (Emmanuel) in the Especial Illegally Blonde, under identical conditions and same impost.
From Campo 2 at San Isidro arrives the in-form Melancólica (Grand Reward, 52kg), light in the weights and coming off her third career victory in a conditions race on Palermo’s dirt, achieved by a tight margin but confirming her steady improvement.
With stakes form in her record, Tac-Tac (Manipulator, 52kg) is one of those names that can never be dismissed in this type of preview. Her most recent effort saw her falter over 1100 meters in the Especial José Hernández, but the extra distance should play more to her strengths, recalling her days as a filly when she captured, among other notable efforts, the Clásico Raúl Lotttero (L).
Curiosa Hit (Hit It a Bomb, 54kg) is another who has been below her best of late, but continues striving to regain a more competitive level. It is hard to imagine a more favorable scenario than this.
