LA PLATA.- The muddy going at La Plata proved the perfect stage for Jalimba (f, 5, Señor Candy–), who turned in a dominant performance in Tuesday’s feature, the Especial Aerostática (1400m), returning to the winner’s circle after a few months away.

Carrying 54 kilos, the consistent mare extended the remarkable streak of success enjoyed by jockey Lautaro Balmacedaand trainer Omar Labanca.

There was never much doubt about the outcome. Illa Alegre (Sabat Husson, 58) tried to go with her early, but quickly faded and trailed the field home. Jalimba began to edge clear around the turn and widened at will in the stretch, crossing the wire an emphatic 11 lengths in front of Furiosa Vis (Furious Key, 54). Another three-quarters back came Estrella del Día (Il Campione, 54) in third, a half-length ahead of Tac-Tac (Manipulator, 52). The final time was 1:27.27, with splits of :23.74, :47.41, and 1:13.27.

Bred by Haras Rodeo Chico and racing in the colors of Stud La Morocha, Jalimba now owns five wins from 20 starts, two of them at the non-winners’ level, having previously annexed the Especial Miss Loren (1500m) here in April.

At five, Jalimba continues to make the most of her opportunities and reaffirms, almost every time she steps onto the track, her reliable class and ability.
