The powerful operation founded by the unforgettable Khalid Abdullah will send horses to the Irish trainer, who continues to establish himself among the strongest names in world racing

NEWMARKET, England (Special for Turf Diario).— The growth of Joseph O'Brien stopped being a promise a long time ago to become a consolidated reality. But now another huge signal has arrived regarding how high the young Irish trainer has climbed: for the first time, the legendary Juddmonte structure decided to send horses to his care.

The news marks a heavy movement within European and international racing, uniting one of the most influential breeding and racing operations of recent decades with one of the most successful and versatile trainers of the new generation.

Founded by the unforgettable Khalid Abdullah, Juddmonte was responsible for eternal champions like Frankel(Galileo), Enable (Nathaniel), Kingman (Invincible Spirit), or Dancing Brave (Lyphard), building an incomparable legacy in Europe and the world.

And now part of that prestigious roster will begin to pass through O’Brien's hands. “It is a true privilege that the Juddmonte team has chosen us to train some of their horses,” acknowledged the 33-year-old conditioner during an interview on the Nick Luck podcast.

“They have had an incredible number of years as a historic operation.”

As he explained, the connection was born after conversations with Barry Mahon, general manager of Juddmonte for Ireland and Europe, and following visits made by representatives of the organization to his training center in County Kilkenny.

For now, O’Brien confirmed that he will receive several 2-year-olds. And although he clarified that they will be individuals more oriented toward the second half of the season, the message behind the alliance seems much deeper.

Because Juddmonte carefully chooses where it distributes its horses. And the fact of adding Joseph O’Brien to its select group of trainers represents another gigantic validation for a professional whose career does not stop growing.

As a trainer, O’Brien has already won monumental races in both hemispheres and on different surfaces, including the Melbourne Cup (G1) with Rekindling (High Chaparral) and the Melbourne Cup again with Twilight Payment(Teofilo).

He also captured the Irish Derby (G1), the St Leger Stakes (G1), the Irish St. Leger (G1), in addition to important triumphs in France, Germany, Australia, and the United States. All of that before turning 35 years old.

And what is perhaps most striking is the naturalness with which he established himself among the great European powers, building his own path far from the gigantic shadow of his father, Aidan O'Brien.

Joseph also hinted at how difficult it is to reach the highest level without the backing of elite operations. “It is complicated to get horses capable of running classics or group races. There are only a few per generation. The big breeding operations have access to extraordinary families, and Juddmonte possesses exactly that.”

Now those extraordinary families will also arrive in Kilkenny.

And seeing the speed with which Joseph O’Brien transformed his young career into an international powerhouse, it is hard to think that this partnership will not end up producing important horses. Very important ones.
