The two-time Breeders' Cup Sprint winner will stand for a $25,000 fee (photo), following a first crop of foals that met with a very strong reception at the sales; the Kentucky Derby winner will cost $10,000, with his initial runners already making their mark on the track

LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Special for Turf Diario).— Juddmonte Farms confirmed its 2027 stud fees for two of its major breeding stallions in the United States, announcing a significant reduction for Elite Power, who will drop from $35,000 to $25,000, while Mandaloun remains steady at $10,000. Both fees carry a live foal guarantee.

The decision regarding Elite Power is particularly noteworthy given the strong reception his first crop of yearlings enjoyed across American auctions. The 8-year-old son of Curlin saw 20 of his offspring reach or surpass $250,000 during the summer and autumn sales, a promising sign reflecting high expectations for his progeny.

The top price belonged to a colt out of Sophia Mia (Pioneerof the Nile), acquired for $800,000 at the KeenelandSeptember Sale by a partnership comprising St. Elias Stable, West Point Thoroughbreds, Lane’s End Racing, and Belladonna Racing. The entry was consigned by Runnymede Farm.

Among the fillies, the highest price reached $550,000, paid by Live Oak Plantation at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale. Overall, 77 yearlings by Elite Power sold for an average of nearly $164,000—a remarkable figure for a stallion whose first crop has yet to hit the track.

Elite Power stood out as one of the premier sprinters in recent U.S. racing history, capturing back-to-back editions of the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) and earning Eclipse Awards as Champion Sprinter in both seasons.

Over the course of his career, he secured six group victories and accumulated earnings exceeding $3.7 million. His dam, Broadway’s Alibi, is a graded stakes-winning daughter of Vindication who finished second in the 2012 Kentucky Oaks (G1).

Breeders' confidence in Elite Power has also shown in his book numbers. During 2026, he covered 130 mares, following an average of 165 mares bred across his first three seasons at stud.

The other major announcement from Juddmonte centers on Mandaloun, winner of the 2021 Kentucky Oaks-day Kentucky Derby (G1), who is beginning to deliver promising results with his first crop on the racetrack.

The son of Into Mischief has already sired 11 winners and ranks among the top ten freshman sires in North America to produce at least one graded stakes winner in 2026.

His flagship runner so far is Observed, undefeated winner of the Del Mar Juvenile Turf Stakes (G3), who is now pointing toward the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1).

Also making headlines is Rum Twist, a winner and runner-up in the Frizette Stakes (G1), currently targeting the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).

Another encouraging signal came at the 2-year-olds in training sales, where Tactical Tune, an unraced son of Mandaloun, fetched $560,000 from bloodstock agent Justin Casse on behalf of CKDS Racing.

Bred by Juddmonte, Mandaloun is out of Brooch, a group-winning daughter of Empire Maker. On the racetrack, he won four group races, including the Haskell Stakes (G1), the Risen Star Stakes (G2), and the Louisiana Stakes (G3), amassing over $3.35 million in earnings.

As Elite Power awaits his first runners on the track with a reduced fee designed to attract breeders, Mandaloun is starting to back up his genetic promise with concrete results.

Two distinct phases in their stallion careers, but a shared commitment by Juddmonte to solidify its footprint in American breeding.
