The next two race cards at Hipódromo de San Isidro have been finalized, featuring an entertaining Saturday program highlighted by a trio of stakes races, with the downgraded 9 de Julio (G2, 1600m, turf) standing out. Once a Group 1 event, the mid-distance test lost that status years ago and has seen its impact diluted by its proximity to the Gran Premio Estrellas Mile (G1).

Surprisingly, despite being the main attraction, the patriotic race will be run first among the three stakes, leaving the Producción Nacional (L) and Cocles (L) for later in the card.

From an initial list of 12 entries, 10 were confirmed, led by G1 winners Comando Secreto (War Command), who seeks back-to-back victories after taking last year’s renewal, and Folie Ninja (Hat Ninja), alongside graded stakes performers Concord (Remote) and Don Latido (John F Kennedy). The field also includes Adorado Rim (Remote), Qué Tarde Gris (Il Campione), Quemetomo (Equal Talent), Sueño Turco (Remote), What a Man (Mastercraftsman), and Yak Sport (Glory Seattle).

The day will also mark the beginning of the road towards the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1) in December, with the Cocles (L, 2400m, turf) for older horses drawing a field of Demostrame (Endorsement), Don Champagne (Long Island Sound), Dragonet (Treasure Beach), Eco Rush (Ecólogo), Equal Mostaza (Equal Stripes), Halteres (Hat Ninja), and Seek Wave (Seek Again).

Meanwhile, the Clásico Producción Nacional (L, 1000m, turf) for mares four and up will feature Durmia (Cityscape), Enjoy Dancing (Hi Happy), Firenze Key (Key Deputy), Flamboyance Rim (Remote), and Forever Rim (Remote).

Looking ahead to Wednesday, July 16, San Isidro’s card will be topped by the Handicap Picacero (1300m, dirt) for older runners, with Burgess Shale (Safety Check) assigned top weight of 58 kilos among the 13 confirmed entries. Other notable names include El Despertar (Il Campione, 58), Flying to the Sky (Señor Candy, 56), King of Wessex (Cosmic Trigger, 56), and Bartlemy (Full Mast, 58).
