Keeneland keeps rolling: 3,397 horses cataloged for a star-studded November Sale
Just three days after hosting the Breeders’ Cup, the Lexington sales ring will open its 83rd November Breeding Stock Sale, spanning nine consecutive sessions. Champion Super Corredora, Expensive Queen, Kilwin, Thought Process, and Usha headline the marquee names in a catalog that also features 1,600 weanlings
LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Special for Turf Diario).— Keeneland will still have the fresh echoes of the Breeders’ Cupwhen it shifts from racing back to sales and opens another of the major international markets of the season. On Tuesday, November 3, the 83rd edition of the November Breeding Stock Sale will kick off, with 3,397 horses cataloged across nine sessions running through Wednesday, November 11.
The close proximity between both events is no coincidence and represents one of the major assets of the Lexingtonscene. Keeneland will host the world championships for the fourth time just three days before launching the auction, bringing together much of the elite of thoroughbred sport and commerce for nearly two weeks.
“There is a real advantage in being both a racetrack and a sales company,” explained Shannon Arvin, president and CEO of Keeneland. “The success we achieve both in the ring and on the track allows us to continue investing in important projects for the future of our sport.”
The catalog features 1,600 weanlings alongside 1,797 broodmares, broodmare prospects, racing/broodmare prospects, horses of racing age, and stallion prospects.
Opening day will be reserved exclusively for Book 1, with a select offering of 258 head beginning at 1:00 PM. Included in that group are 108 weanlings by 35 different stallions.
Super Corredora, Champion in the Ring
One of the names drawing the most attention will be Super Corredora, 2025 champion 2-year-old filly and winner of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1).
The daughter of Gun Runner recently returned to action following a six-month layoff with a convincing victory in the Zenyatta Stakes (G2) on September 27 at Santa Anita, and she will be offered by Lane’s End.
Also featured is Expensive Queen (Lope de Vega), winner this year of the Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1) at Keenelanditself and currently nominated for the First Lady Stakes (G1) on October 3.
The catalog additionally includes Kilwin (Twirling Candy), winner of the 2025 Test Stakes (G1) and earner of $1.3 million; Thought Process (Collected), heroine of this season's Gamely Stakes (G1); and Usha (Tiz the Law), winner of the 2025 La Brea Stakes (G1).
The broodmare offering likewise presents pedigrees of massive appeal.
Ma’am (Colonel John), dam of Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mystik Dan (Goldencents), will be offered in foal to Into Mischief. Also featured is Complicated (Blame), dam of Simply in Front (Summer Front) and Honor D Lady(Honor Code), also in foal to Into Mischief; Animal Appeal (Leroidesanimaux), dam of Usha, in foal to Tiz the Law; and G1 winner and producer Sippican Harbor (Orb), in foal to Into Mischief and accompanied in the catalog by her colt weanling by McKinzie.
The sale will also feature the first mares in foal to the likes of Mystik Dan, Citizen Bull (Into Mischief), Fierceness(City of Light), Sierra Leone (Gun Runner), and Straight No Chaser (Speightster).
Weanlings for Every Taste
The Book 1 selection boasts several pedigrees capable of triggering fierce competition.
Among them is a Good Magic half-sister out of Curtin to Broodmare of the Year Puca (Big Brown); a Practical Joke(Into Mischief) half-brother to G1 winner The Puma (Essential Quality); another Practical Joke half-brother to Scottish Lassie (McKinzie); a Justify (Scat Daddy) full brother to 2000 Guineas (G1) winner Ruling Court; and a Curlin (Smart Strike) half-sister to Cave Rock (Arrogate).
Also set to go under the hammer are a Munnings (Speightstown) half-brother to Howard Wolowitz (Munnings), a Flightline (Tapit) half-brother to Eskimo Kisses (To Honor and Serve), a McKinzie half-brother to Ag Bullet(Twirling Candy), and an Into Mischief half-brother to Princess Noor (Not This Time).
It will also mark the first opportunity to purchase weanlings by several fresh young stallions, including Seize the Grey(Arrogate), Dornoch (Good Magic), and National Treasure (Quality Road).
The strength of this division is no small detail for Keeneland. Among the November graduates who captured graded stakes during 2026 are Magnitude (Not This Time), Englishman (Maxfield), Fully Subscribed (Tiz the Law), Miss Monica (Early Voting), Nysos (Nyquist), and So Happy (Runhappy), all G1 winners.
Major Dispersions
The catalog will also feature several complete dispersions.
The Aaron and Marie Jones LLC dispersion will consist of nine offerings: five broodmares in foal to Candy Ride, Goal Oriented, Into Mischief, and Tapit, alongside four weanlings by Into Mischief, Nyquist, and Tapit. Taylor Made Sales Agency will handle the consignment.
Broader still is the Starship Stables dispersion from Laurence Leavy, featuring 40 head among in-foal mares, racing/broodmare prospects, and weanlings.
The offering includes mares in foal to names such as Cody’s Wish, Cogburn, Forte, Goal Oriented, Golden Pal, Mindframe, National Treasure, Not This Time, Omaha Beach, Sierra Leone, Vekoma, and Yaupon.
The November Sale will begin with Book 1 on November 3; Book 2 will cover sessions on November 4 and 5; Book 3 on November 6 and 7; Book 4 will continue on November 8 and 9; and Book 5 will close out the proceedings on November 10 and 11.
Following a historic September Sale, Keeneland will once again put the strength of the market to the test. This time, yearlings won't take center stage, but rather champions, elite broodmares, and a new generation of weanlings. And it will all start just three days after the Breeders’ Cup finishes gathering much of the racing world in Lexington.
