Fresh off his Ecuador (G2) victory, the Hi Happy colt faces a competitive field where several rivals could factor prominently

The turf mile division has been unsettled for some time, lacking a clear leader capable of showing consistency and repeating victories. Will the Gran Premio San Isidro (G1–1600 m) serve as a kind of benchmark to set the record straight in the division?
The answer will come mid-afternoon, when 12 horses break from the gates seeking a win that could put them at the top—but, of course, staying there is the tougher challenge, as the saying goes.
In terms of concept, one horse has always reigned over Kopke, and though the Hi Happy colt from Las Monjitas took longer than expected to respond, he has now shown he is ready to run decisively. His brave victory in the Clásico Ecuador (G2) was a perfect example, edging out What a Man (Mastercraftsman), Talented Hit (Hit It a Bomb), and Descamisado (Cosmic Trigger) by a neck, half a neck, and half a length, respectively—all rivals he will meet again, each with reason to seek redemption.
The San Isidro is expected to feature a fast pace up front, which could enhance Kopke’s chances, as horses like Storm Sound (Hi Happy) and the resurgent Ronda de Ases (Forge) will aim to push the early fractions. The challenge for the others will be keeping pace if any of these front-runners find comfort in the lead.
A year ago, Earth God (Cosmic Trigger) shocked the field as a juvenile, defeating older rivals in this very race. Since then, he has never crossed the wire first again, posting a mix of strong and underwhelming efforts. In his most recent start, he finished third to What a Man in the Clásico República Federativa del Brasil (G3) over Palermo’s turf and now seeks a repeat victory.
Concord (Remote) appears to have rediscovered his speed after a brilliant win in the América (G2), while Adorado Rim(Remote) is another contender to watch, though his consistency has been questionable.
It shapes up as a competitive and fast-paced turf mile, with Kopke poised to stake his claim at the top.
