Come-from-behind runs like the one unleashed by La Farce in the Clásico General Alvear (L, 1000m) are not seen every day. The daughter of Emmanuel delivered a breathtaking rally from the final 300 meters to the wire, emerging as Monday’s standout performer at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo and stamping herself among the leading dirt speedsters.

It was down Palermo’s famed straight that La Farce found her very best stride, putting the finishing touch on a high-class campaign more than a year on from her early debut. After playing a solid role at the outset of the La Plata classic trail and collecting several strong efforts at the upper levels, she produced a career-defining performance.

Prepared by Andrés Domingo, the bay filly trailed the field for much of the journey as La De Dudi (Aspire) carved out an opening split of :23.18 under pressure from several pursuers. Adrian Giannetti bided his time aboard La Farce, who switched leads approaching the 300-meter mark and then detonated an electric burst. At first, it appeared she might only get there—but she did far more than that, sweeping past the leader and drawing clear to score by 1 1/2 lengths in a sharp :57.96.

Two lengths back, Verdadera Pass (Distinctiv Passion) completed a one–three finish for the fillies against their elders, while the heavily backed pair of Santa Calma (Qué Vida Buena) and Sarzana Pass (Distinctiv Passion) finished well adrift. As for Sarzana Pass, the post-time favorite, she was bumped at the break and never found her rhythm, recording a third straight disappointing effort and perhaps signaling the need for a freshening.

The victory was the third of La Farce’s career from 13 starts, pushing her earnings to 32,968,450 pesos and providing an unforgettable celebration for her breeder and owner, renowned veterinarian Avelino Castellano.

La Farce flew—by every measure—to land the first stakes victory of an already admirable campaign. Still just three and showing marked improvement in recent months, she appears poised to deliver many more trademark late surges in the time to come.
