Although the rain that fell overnight and during the early morning hours may end up forcing the cancellation of the turf races for the conditional events, Saturday’s card at San Isidro remains full of intrigue.

In addition to the Clásico Antártida Argentina (L), the stakes action will feature the Clásico Miss Terrible, a 1,000-meter handicap for fillies and mares aged 3 and older on the turf, with a modest purse of 5,450,000 pesos for the winner.

This could be a prime opportunity for La Meninha to score her first significant victory outside La Plata, as she faces a slightly easier task than in previous outings. With post position from the inside, the Le Blues filly from Stud Tres Jotas will carry 58.5 kilos and enters this race after finishing fourth, just 1 1/2 lengths behind Lagoa Azul (Lenovo) in the General Arenales (G3)at Palermo. She repeated that placing in the General Francisco B. Bosch (G3) and the Gran Premio Félix de Alzaga Unzué (G1) in December, where she performed phenomenally.

However, defending her candidacy won’t be easy. She’ll face Eleven Mile (Il Campione, 58.5), who finished fifth in the aforementioned Arenales, but previously took the Clásico La Troienne (L) at San Isidro in late November.

Also lining up is the seasoned Forty Vise (Fortify, 59), making her comeback after a well-deserved break. Inactive since her fifth-place finish in the Handicap Mat-Boy last October, she boasts the Clásico Producción Nacional (L) among her achievements, making her a contender to watch closely.

Durmia (Cityscape, 57.5) is another notable name, returning to the track where she won the Potri Pe and Aníbal D. Etchart stakes in succession before faltering in the Arenales.

The list of entrants also includes the up-and-coming Emma Style (Cosmic Trigger, 52.5), who is racing without weight and has placed in both of her prior starts as a winner.

Completing the lineup is Fantastic Bomb (Hit it a Bomb, 51.5), who will need to make up some ground to be a factor.
