LA PLATA.- With four withdrawals from the original entry box, a field of 10 sophomore fillies will line up for Sunday’s Gran Premio Selección de Potrancas (G1, 2000m, dirt) at La Plata, where the division’s top spot will be on the line with a purse of AR$40,000,000 to the winner.

The marquee storyline is the rematch between Mis Locuras (Manipulator) and Elenika (Winning Prize), who finished one-two in the G3 Clásico Diego White last out. Elenika, heroine of the G2 Clásico Polla de Potrancas, was upset that day after previously holding a clear edge among her peers.

While the speedy Calle de Tierra (Strategos)—recent winner of the Listed Clásico Raúl Lottero—will not be in the gate after being declared, Mis Locuras and Elenika will still face eight other rivals: Cala Nova (Treasure Beach), Cálida Sonrisa (Cosmic Trigger), Class Life (Fortify), Evelia (Daddy Long Legs), La Graviere (Seahenge), Nevada Top (Puerto Escondido), The Great Village (The Great Day) and Vida Bohemia (Winning Prize).

The Sunday program will also feature the Clásico Florentino Ameghino (1200m, dirt) for fillies and mares 4yo and up. The seven confirmed runners are: Save Your Tears (Full Mast), High Rimout (Remote), Lady Pirata (Sir Winsalot), Re Guaraní (Grand Reward), Señora Bagaces (Lizard Island), Woman Edition (Equal Edition) and Grand Sara Jet (Grand Reward).

Attention will then shift to Tuesday, Sept. 23, for the G3 Clásico Jockey Club de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (2200m, dirt), the second jewel of the Argentine Triple Crown. Winston (Forge), dominant in the G3 Polla de Potrillos, will look to keep his streak alive while offering a rematch to Sono Perfetto (Tetaze), who comes off victory in the G3 José Pedro Ramírez after having been defeated by Winston earlier in the season in the G3 Isidoro Aramburu.

Nine others were also confirmed: Bar de Atenas (Reride), Nassau (Forge), Purple Nich (Nicholas), Regalo del Sol (Lucullan), Un Infierno (Dabster), Amuni (Tetaze), First to Run (Daniel Boone), Piñazo (John F Kennedy) and Társico Sam (Társico).

That same Tuesday card includes the Listed Clásico Stud Book Argentino (2200m, dirt) for older horses, one of the final local preps toward the G1 Gran Premio Dardo Rocha, and worth AR$7,330,000 to the winner. The small but select cast will be: Best Portal (Portal del Alto), Che Banquero (Greenspring), Look Portal (Portal del Alto), Mister Coquette (Bodemeister) and Sofware (Treasure Beach).

The week closes out Thursday, Sept. 25, with the Listed Clásico Club Hípico de Chile (1200m, dirt) for older sprinters. Eight have been declared: Oro Azteca (Empire Aztec), Surfing Boy (Hurricane Cat), Lo Dejo Todo (Le Blues), Decan Dall (Victor Security), Normando Lu (Lunático Emperor), Rodo (Flowing Rye), Le Massif (Le Ken) and Es Aristocrático (Angiolo).
