LA PLATA.— Despite announcing the suspension of the conditional alternative category ("categoría alternativa") for this week, which guaranteed that all scheduled races would compete for the full purse, very little changed in the general outlook at the local racetrack. The venue continues to battle sparse entry lists, foreshadowing brief and short racing cards in the immediate future, which also forced the rescheduling of the Clásico Miguel Luis Morales (G2). The 1,600-meter dirt fixture, a vital preparatory stepping stone for the prestigious Polla de Potrancas (G2), attracted a mere three entrants and will now be contested on Tuesday, July 21.

Disruptions and alterations to the classic sophomore schedule are nothing new at the Bosque; for a couple of years now, changes have been permanent and structural. The reality remains that sustaining three separate thoroughbred selection processes across the country has become entirely unsustainable for Argentine racing, especially in the wake of a massive decline in foal crops over recent seasons. However, as has become custom, not a single racing executive—including those at San Isidro and Palermo, of course—seems willing to rethink the current model. Everything proceeds as usual, and it is clear that the situation will only worsen day by day.

The entry box opened this Friday for the upcoming racing cards on Tuesday, July 14, and Thursday, July 16, with the Morales originally slated to anchor the Tuesday program. With that classic postponed, the afternoon's centerpiece will now be the Clásico Otelo A. Orlandi (L), a 1,600-meter dirt contest restricted to fillies and mares four years old and upward under weight-for-age conditions.

A competitive group of 15 conditional entrants has been assembled, featuring Blessed Shine (Honour Devil), End of Spring (Il Campione), and Guadilú (Señor Candy) as the primary market references. Joining them in the prospective lineup are: Alcala (Angiolo), Arrietta (Daddy Long Legs), City Land (Lizard Island), Godess (Valid Stripes), La Banda (Fortify), La Cordial (Santillano), La Inefable (Cosmic Trigger), Luna Gitana (Le Blues), Red Chilly (Il Mercato), Tiffany Breakfast (Japan), Upends (Brz-Imperatore), and Will Sound (Long Island Sound).

On Thursday, July 16, the spotlight will shift to the Clásico Juan Vucetich, a 1,200-meter sprint open to horses four years old and upward, also contested under regulatory weight-for-age parameters. No fewer than 24 potential runners have filled the entry list, a deep roster headlined by the likes of El Resero Con Capa (Angiolo), Valdobbio (Hit It a Bomb), Vespaciano (Daniel Boone), Mago Beto (Dabster), Oro Azteca (Empire Aztec), Redentor Scat (Knockout), Colour Vision (Univisión), Let Me Dance (Le Blues), and Seek Wave (Seek Again).

The deadline for final scratchings and official declarations is set for 11:00 a.m. this coming Monday.
