La Plata Lines Up Five Stakes This Week—But Questions Remain Over Their Fate

LA PLATA.- If no races are called off, the upcoming week at La Plata will feature no fewer than five stakes events spread across three race meetings, shaping up as one of the busiest and most ambitious programs of the current season.

The series is set to kick off Saturday, April 25, with the Clásico Wanna Dance (1100m) and the Clásico Colombia(1400m). The former is open to fillies and mares aged three and up, while the latter is for horses four and older, both contested under weight-for-age conditions.

Among those entered for the Wanna Dance are Aldora City (Cityscape), Empress Life (Legión de Honor), Let Me Dance (Le Blues), Maylena (Qué Vida Buena), Packam (Daddy Long Legs), Reina Secreta (Víctor Security), Starry Bomb (Hit It a Bomb), and Verdadera Pass (Distinctiv Passion).

The Colombia could feature a competitive lineup including Beauty Sea (Seahenge), Bombay Lake (Anjiz Lake), Campo Verde (Strategos), Don Zahir (Daddy Long Legs), El Ernesto (Señor Candy), Go Tommy Go (Annals of Time), Liberto (Hurricane Cat), Preludio Lento (Daddy Long Legs), Storm Sound (Hi Happy), and Vampiro Zen(Zensational).

Action continues Tuesday, April 28, with the Clásico Miss Loren (1600m), for fillies and mares four and up under weight-for-age conditions. A deep list of 17 nominees includes Blessed Shine (Honour Devil), Cara Niña(Manipulator), Contrast (Safety Check), End of Spring (Il Campione), Furiosa Vis (Furious Key), It's My Look(Equal Stripes), La Cordial (Santillano), La Guernica (Il Campione), Lancara (Manipulator), Lost Beach (Treasure Beach), Me Prometiste (Cima de Triomphe), Melan Song (Malenchini), Puerta Plateada (Puerto Escondido), Qué Perpleja (Grand Reward), Red Chilly (Il Mercato), Señorita Maestra (Señor Candy), and Sia (Puerto Escondido).

Also on that card is the Especial Cafrune (1500m), for horses aged five and up with three or more wins, where Fancy Model (Lizard Island) is expected to carry top weight of 58 kilograms among a group of 13 entries.

The week is scheduled to conclude Thursday, April 30, with the Clásico Full Sail (1000m), open to horses three and older, and the Clásico República Federativa del Brasil (2000m), for fillies and mares aged three and up.

Among those entered for the Full Sail are Animal Topic (El Animal), Beat Me (Cosmic Trigger), El Sparring (Mask), Emm Yugo (Emmanuel), Encantador Pass (Distinctiv Passion), Golden Incurable (Golden Cigars), Lindo Tono Pass (Distinctiv Passion), Magyar (Lenovo), Redentor Scat (Knockout), Rodo (Flowing Rye), Sueño de Victoria(Malicius), Vendaval Joy (Roman Joy), Voy Al Baile (Qué Vida Buena), Last Word (Le Blues), Mumok (Grand Reward), and My Wrecker (Honour Devil).

For the Brasil, the potential field includes Abrazo Al Cielo (Treasure Beach), Embrace It (Daddy Long Legs), La de Trevi (Aspire), La Guernica, La Watson (Hurricane Cat), Nevada Top (Puerto Escondido), Podoroska (Lucullan), and Roula Rova (Santillano).
