Piñazo, Winston, and Sono Perfetto, 1-3-4 in the Jockey Club, lead a short field of just nine probable starters

LA PLATA.- Entries were taken this Friday for the Clásico Provincia de Buenos Aires (G2-2200 m, dirt), the final leg of Argentina’s local Triple Crown, carrying a modest purse of 9,590,000 pesos, though a 5,000,000-peso bonus has been set aside for the winner. The race is scheduled for Friday, October 17, one day ahead of the Gran Premio Latinoamericano (G1).
Once a Grade 1 event, the race continues to lose stature, largely due to its placement on the calendar—sandwiched between the Jockey Club (G1) at San Isidro and the Nacional (G1) at Palermo.
The gray Piñazo (John F Kennedy), fresh off a victory in the Jockey Club de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (G3), could attempt to cement his claim as the top three-year-old of the season at La Plata. Notably, Nassau (Forge)—runner-up to him that day—will not be in his path, as he is being aimed at the Derby Porteño.
However, Winston (Forge), third in that same Jockey Club and a previous winner of the Polla de Potrillos (G3), could present a challenge, though trainer Juan Saldivia told Turf Diario that the option of running in the Nacional at Palermo is also under consideration.
Sono Perfetto (Tetaze), fourth in the Jockey Club and winner of the Clásico José Pedro Ramírez (G3), is confirmed to run, rounding out a short field that includes Bar de Atenas (Reride), Big Capo (Capolicho), Emblematicu (Lucullan), Prince Ride (Reride), Record Label (Sixties Song), and Señor Dalton (Señor Candy).
Two other stakes will also be contested that day in the south. The Eusonio C. Boni (L-1100 m, dirt) for fillies and the Jockey Club de Venezuela (L-1400 m, dirt) for mares aged four and up, both under a weight-for-age scale.
Potential entries in the Boni include: Albalina (Mask), Calle de Tierra (Strategos), Emprestada (Cosmic Trigger), Estrella Guía (Il Campione), Indy Mía (Puerto Escondido), La Farce (Emmanuel), Llamame a La Tarde (Presagio Key), Merle Oberon (Equal Talent), Mi Paisanita (Gouverneur Morris), Ree Libertadora (Reelants), Space Needle (Hit It a Bomb), Starry Bomb (Hit It a Bomb), Tranquila Señora (Fortify), Máxima Risk (Security Risk), and Mimosa Grey (Zensational).
Meanwhile, eight are entered in the Jockey Club de Venezuela, including Storm Sound (Hi Happy), who will also run in the Gran Premio San Isidro (G1) on Saturday. Other entries are Bequepingo (Cityscape), Buen Curuzucuateño (Buen Verso), El Ernesto (Il Campione), El Gazpacho (Bodemeister), Gran Positano (Tan Chemistry), Rodo (Flowing Rye), and Surfing Boy (Hurricane Cat).
Final confirmations for the card will be taken until 11 a.m. on Monday, with the official field and jockey assignments released later that afternoon.
