LA PLATA—Beginning November 19, the day of the Gran Premio Dardo Rocha (G1), the city’s racetrack will implement a 10% purse increase across all categories. The adjustment significantly boosts La Plata’s competitiveness and, while still slightly below the levels typically offered at the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo, it brings the Bosque circuit much closer to San Isidro in terms of prize money.

For example, in a one-mile race for 3-year-old maidens, the winner’s share will rise from $4,510,000 to $4,960,000.

A race for 5-year-olds with one win, run between 1000 and 1300 meters, currently awards $2,260,000 to the winner—an amount that will move to $2,490,000 under the new scale.

Stakes purses will also see upgrades. If the Clásico Tía Gallarda, Thursday’s feature at Los Eucaliptos, were run under the new structure on Nov. 19, its winner would earn $6,520,000 instead of the present $5,930,000.

The purse increase represents welcome news for owners, and further adjustments raised participation payments for trainers, jockeys, and stable staff, offering a more attractive overall reward structure across the La Plata program.
