When Alfredo Farioli launched his breeding operation from his farm in Esperanza, Santa Fe, the dream was to produce top-quality horses, remain competitive, and challenge the market with his Haras La Valkiria, starting from the ground up.

The key to making Fredy’s dream—and that of his entire family—a reality was Mask (Tapit), the stallion he imported from the United States in a bold private venture. Today, that investment provides unforgettable moments and has established the sire as perhaps one of the best in the country.

The latest major news for La Valkiria and its team came this holiday Monday on the turf at Hipodromo Argentino de Palermo, where La Tasmania captured the Clasico Roberto Pellegatta, a 1,200-meter tribute to a legendary trainer.

The chestnut filly confirmed her current elite form, securing her fourth consecutive victory and her fifth win in just seven starts (complemented by a second and a third-place finish), backed by the unstoppable duo of trainer Marcelo Sueldo and jockey Gonzalo Borda.

La Tasmania dominated from wire-to-wire, though not without some drama. Immediately after the break, she jumped a path and ran keenly for a significant portion of the race until settling down. She was once again green in the stretch, reacting to the shadows on the track, but managed to hold off the powerful late surge of Victoria Bayern (Santillano) to prevail by a mere head. The final time was 1:10.82 over a course rated as normal, though playing somewhat soft.

Three lengths back, A La Vista (Angiolo) completed the trifecta. The favorite, Tiz Joy (Fortify), trailed the field after an early bid to challenge the winner in the lane.

Out of Donatella Rye, a Catcher In the Rye mare with a solid racing record that Farioli acquired privately for La Valkiria, La Tasmania hails from the historic family of Doria (Advocate). This is the same line that in recent years has produced other standout sprinters such as Forty Doriana (Roar), Dionisio Tom (Shy Tom), and Fuego Valyrio(Santillano).
