The daughter of Hurricane Cat is coming off a very comfortable victory in the Clásico Vit Reina, and the goal is to confirm that form

LA PLATA.— Fillies and mares were the main protagonists during Tuesday’s card at the racetrack in this city, and they will take center stage once again this Thursday. While that previous occasion focused on middle-distance runners, it is now time for the stayers to shine in the Clásico República Federativa del Brasil (2,000m, dirt). The winner’s purse, however, borders on a lack of respect at 6,830,000 pesos; in Argentina, everything is rising except for the prize money received by owners.
Six contenders are set to compete, forming a field of promising runners—mostly 3-year-olds—which is a positive sign for the future. The occasion appears ideal for La Watson (Hurricane Cat) to maintain her undefeated record at this track and confirm the high quality she displayed a month ago, when she galloped to an 8-length victory in the Clásico Vit Reina.
With the gray representing Stud Juanjo, trainer Gustavo Scarpello will seek redemption after returning home with a second-place finish just two days ago, when the heavily favored It's My Look (Equal Stripes) was defeated by End of Spring (Il Campione) in the Clásico Miss Loren.
Challenging her is Embrace It (Daddy Long Legs), polished by Nicolás Martín Ferro. After losing to her paternal sister My Pride in an allowance optional claimer upon her return, she performed respectably in the Clásico Paseana (G2) at San Isidro, finishing fifth, 7 1/4 lengths behind Dream Serena (Forge).
Stepping up from the allowance ranks are Abrazo Al Cielo (Treasure Beach) and Nevada Top, who finished in that order separated by 4 lengths in their last outing. Both take on a greater risk in stakes company, conceding an advantage in experience but carrying the energy and youth of their 3-year-old seasons.
Starting from the inside post will be La de Trevi (Aspire), who finished a distant third behind La Watson when they met in the Clásico Vit Reina. It appears she will need to improve significantly if she intends to close such a wide margin.
Finally, Podoroska (Lucullan) enters the fray; after two consecutive victories, she finished last, well beaten, in the aforementioned Paseana.
