LA PLATA, Argentina — For La Watson, the racetrack in this city seems to be her own backyard. After debuting there with a victory in a conditional race, the filly from Stud Juanjo made the trip once again from her stall at San Isidro’s Campo 2, and once again finished in front, this time adding a new dimension to her campaign by capturing the Clásico Vit Reina (2000m, heavy dirt).

Stretching out to the two-kilometer distance for the first time, the daughter of Hurricane Cat built a convincing and powerful performance. While facing rivals that were not overly complex, she overcame every challenge in great form, projecting her name toward higher levels within the category at this circuit.

Trained by Gustavo Scarpello and with Jorge Peralta in the irons, the grey filly stalked the pacesetter La de Trevi (Aspire) from the start, beginning to apply pressure during the second half of the backstretch and leaving her behind before reaching the home turn.

In front of the grandstands, the winner made everything look easy and began to widen her advantage without much effort, crossing the finish line 8 lengths ahead of the favorite Resilincia Holiday (Cosmic Trigger), who finished 2 1/2 lengths clear of the aforementioned La de Trevi. The rest of the field finished as best they could, far behind, in a performance that was as underwhelming as could have been predicted since the day of the entries.

Bred by Haras El Mallín, La Watson stopped the clock in 2m8s59/100, with fractional times of 27s22/100, 53s16/100, 1m18s12/100, and 1m43s71/100.

This marked only the third victory in the brief campaign of the day’s main heroine at "El Bosque." She is a full sister to Forest Gump, also a stakes winner at this distance and track. Both are out of Roman Holiday (Peer Gynt), a sister to G1 winner Tremendo Tordo (Hurricane Cat) and G2-placed Frasero (El Corredor), from the same family as Margot (Advocate)—a line that originated at the unforgettable Haras Ojo de Agua and has expanded successfully across many national nurseries.
