Can Labrado finally win the Gran Premio Félix de Alzaga Unzué (G1-1000m, turf)? The question will be answered next Saturday, when the three-time champion sprinter takes on no fewer than 23 rivals in the premier turf sprint, a cornerstone of the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (G1) program at the Hipódromo de San Isidro.

The son of Le Blues, who comes in off a victory in the Gran Premio Suipacha (G1), will make his fourth attempt to capture the only straight-course G1 that has slipped away from him. He blew the start in the 2022 running, then finished third in both 2023 and 2024.

With a formidable résumé boasting 14 wins—eight of them at the highest level—the Stud Don Ariel runner skipped the Gran Premio Maipú (G1) at Palermo, where El Epecuen (Il Campione) burst onto the scene with an authoritative victory in his debut at 1000 meters. Labrado will now try to reassert his superiority against the best.

Also entered are other G1 winners such as Le Cornette (Emmanuel), El Mejor Recuerdo (Il Campione) and Brazil’s Lendario Brujo (Comandante Dodge), along with El Resero Con Capa (Angiolo), who just captured the Clásico Ciudad de La Plata (G2) on Nov. 19.

Additional notable contenders include Bailarín de Venecia (Angiolo), winner of the Cyllene (G2); El Luciano (Il Campione), who only hours ago took the Clásico Aristophanes; and La Bella Otero (Daddy Long Legs), successful in both the General Lavalle (G3) and Venezuela (G2).

Rounding out the lineup are: Contra Pronóstico (Daddy Long Legs), El Fortín (Il Campione), El Madrugador (Il Campione), En Un Rincón (Manipulator), Flamboyance Rim (Remote), Grand Star (Grand Reward), Joy Fun(Fortify), La Gran Furtiva (South Kissing), Land of Promise (Le Blues), Martinique (Señor Candy), Naranccello (Le Blues), Opreso (Endorsement), Pairos (Le Blues), Santo Federal (Santillano), and Say the Truth (Long Island Sound).

The Gran Premio Félix de Alzaga Unzué will distribute 70,000,000 pesos in total prize money, with 35,000,000 to the winner. Entry and final confirmation fees amount to 1,050,000 pesos.
