The colt had finished second in the Clásico Asociación de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera de Buenos Aires (G3) at La Plata; he will only be allowed to return to competition starting June 26

LA PLATA.-One of the most promising 2-year-old colts of the current juvenile season at La Plata, Lago Nahuel Huapi has been suspended through June 26 after testing positive following his runner-up finish behind Bolero Frank (Gidu) in the G3 Clásico Asociación de Propietarios de Caballos de Carrera de Buenos Aires, held May 8.
The son of Hurricane Cat was found to have traces of arsenic in his system, one of the many substances banned under racing regulations. Trainer Andrés Domingo did not request a confirmatory B sample, and the original result was upheld by the La Plata stewards, who then issued the corresponding sanctions.
Although Domingo had no prior violations, the fact that the infraction occurred in a Group 3 event was considered an aggravating factor. As a result, the trainer was handed a three-month suspension, through August 26, 2025, and fined.
Lago Nahuel Huapi was disqualified from the placings, with the revised official order of finish as follows: 1st, Bolero Frank; 2nd, Niño Samurai (Hat Ninja); 3rd, Capital Boss (Daniel Boone); 4th, Muchacho Calavera (Mask); 5th, Cinco Tapon (Sixties Song).
Prior to the incident, the suspended colt had captured the G3 Clásico Luis María Doyhenard, and had also finished second in both the G3 Clásico Agustín B. Gambier and the Especial Iniciación (on debut), as well as fourth in the Clásico Nueva Generación Potrillos.
