The San Isidro turf straight course will take center stage in the most important race of Wednesday’s program, the Clásico La Troienne (L–1000m), a handicap for fillies and mares aged three and up which could also point to contenders for the upcoming Félix de Alzaga Unzué (G1).

Carrying topweight of 61.5kg and returning under new colors and a new trainer after more than three months on the sidelines, Lagoa Azul makes her comeback on the turf where she previously enjoyed her best performances, looking to get back on the winning trail.

The daughter of Lenovo was virtually untouchable between late 2024 and the early part of the current season, reeling off four consecutive victories, a streak that included wins in the General Alvear (L), the General Arenales (G3) and the Handicap Spiny, before finishing second to El Mejor Recuerdo (Il Campione) in the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G1).

She failed to show her best in the Gran Premio Estrellas Sprint (G1) and the Clásico México (G3), but now aims to make up for lost time and secure her ticket to the international showdown in December.

Her task, however, will be far from straightforward. Among her main rivals is Santa Calma (Qué Vida Buena, 58.5kg), who finished ahead of her when fourth in the Sprint, before below-par effort in the Clásico Condesa (G3).

Lightly raced but with plenty of upside, Soy Atorranta (Angiolo)—sixth in this same race last year—returned from a layoff with an eye-catching win in conditions company. Under similar terms to those she faces here, she scored by 2 1/2 lengths in good time, and it would be no surprise to see her sustain that form.

Elvio Bortulé saddles two experienced runners in Durmia (Cityscape, 57kg) and Firenze Key (Key Deputy, 53.5kg), both being prepared to rediscover their best form.

Also in the mix are Nisa (Angiolo, 54kg), fourth in the Handicap Sandal, and Portuaria Lure (Puerto Escondido), who finished third behind Soy Atorranta in her latest outing.
