Stud Las Monjitas has been playing strong in the season's early auctions, and the Haras Rodeo Chico Total Yearling Sale was no exception, as the stable secured the three most expensive lots.

Camilo Bautista’s operation added Blomqvist (Village King), Es Lógica (Satono Flag), and Candy Rock (Capensis) to its roster, ultimately shelling out $49,000, $42,000, and $41,000, respectively.

The auction, held last Monday in a virtual format organized by Monasterio Tattersall, showed market firmness with a distinct number of bidders and every lot finding a buyer, confirming the trends seen in the Vacación and Abolengo select sales.

As mentioned, the sale-topper was Blomqvist, from the second crop of champion Village King (Campanologist) and the first foal out of the group winner Canta Bonita (Aerosol), who raced for Las Monjitas. The filly is a half-sister to G2winner Carta de Amor (Heliostatic), the dam of G3 winner Equal Mostaza (Equal Stripes). Both also carried the blue and orange silks.

The second-highest price went to Es Lógica, from the first generation of the Japanese sire Satono Flag (Deep Impact) out of Embrace Her (Editor's Note), making her a half-sister to G1 winner Entropía (Mount Nelson). Finally, the podium of top prices was completed by Candy Rock, by the first-crop sire Capensis out of Candy Explotion (Equal Stripes), a sister to G3 winner Carameliza (Le Blues) and G1-placed Candy Fy (Fortify), from the maternal family of the incomparable Candy Ride (Ride the Rails).

In total, the 20 yearlings sold reached a gross of $492,000, with an average of $24,600 and a median of $23,000, ensuring the night ended with smiles at Haras Rodeo Chico.
