Law and Order and Chuck Spring: Same Formula, Different Results

In the divisions of the Especial Encuentro Provincial Invierno, the colt barely held on at the wire, while the older horse proved completely dominant
Horses with racing experience in the provinces once again enjoyed a prominent showcase within the Hipódromo de Palermo racing calendar. It happened this Saturday with the runnings of the Especial Encuentro Provincial Invierno (1000m, dirt), split into one division for 3-year-olds and another for 4-year-olds and up. Sharply contrasting finishes unfolded at the end of those contests, with the colt Law and Order making a perfect debut at the main tracks with a tight victory, and the Azul-based Chuck Spring maintaining his undefeated record at Avenida del Libertador y Dorrego by decisively capturing the older horse division.
The performance of Law and Order caught the eye from start to finish, offering plenty of suspense in the final yards but ultimately delivering on the confidence of his connections after having won a 600-meter stakes race at General Cabrera on May 1st.
The son of Le Blues flashed exceptional early speed, opening up several lengths early on before clearing to the rail. From there, he maintained the lead to hold off the late charge of the favorite Pan y Vino (Qué Vida Buena) by a neck, though the latter would later be disqualified to third place for interfering with Super Junior (Seize).
Trained by Justo Juan José Benítez for Stud El Amigo of Bell Ville, Córdoba, the chestnut bred by Haras El Paraísowas ridden by Tomás Arrieta Giovanini. His time for the kilometer was 58s44/100, considerably slower than the 57s7/100 posted a short while later by Chuck Spring in the older horse version of the Encuentro Provincial Invierno.
The son of Chuck Berry confirmed the excellent impression left by his previous Palermo appearance when capturing the Especial Antonio F. Manzone, and showed no mercy to his rivals, leading virtually wire-to-wire and widening his advantage in the stretch.
With Elías Martínez in the irons, the Stud La California representative drew off to defeat Marriets (Mario's Van) by 4 lengths, with the heavy favorite Emperador Sound (Long Island Sound) finishing third, another half-length back. Trained by Alfredo Armando Cabrera, the winner was bred at Haras La Catedral de Palermo.
