Le Cornette is currently in sublime form. Approaching 7 years of age, he possesses the firmness of a youngster, a fact he has proven in every start this season. As he awaits next week’s potential crowning as the 2025 Champion Sprinter, the chestnut continues to rack up victories and is now primed for another G1 bid in the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires on May 1.

What appeared on paper to be a somewhat risky task was reduced to a "health walk" through the Palermo mud. The Stud Chajarí standout maintained his undefeated record in 2026 with a staggering victory in the Clásico Estados Unidos de América (G3). Breaking like a rocket from post 1, the heavy favorite crossed the track, seized the lead, and essentially dragged his seven rivals along, sending a clear message of dominance to the division.

Le Cornette hardly broke a sweat, separating himself from the field the moment jockey William Pereyra pressed his knees. He cruised to the wire with a five-length advantage over the outsider Primer Amor (Manipulator), who had chased him since the start. Lyon (Lenovo) finished third, a further 1 1/2 lengths back, followed by a lackluster El Mejor Recuerdo (Il Campione). Meanwhile, the mare Tormenta China (Malenchini) paid a steep price for attempting to match the winner’s early pace, ending the day with a trip to the equine hospital.

The win marked another graded stakes success for trainer Gerardo Alteño, who had also shone on Saturday with Nevado Catedral (Gouverneur Morris) in the Clásico Benito Villanueva (G2). For the veteran sprinter, this was the 11th victory of a formidable career spanning 25 starts, bringing his total earnings to $123,441,400 ARS. He now sets his sights on the Gran Premio Ciudad de Buenos Aires (G1), where Labrado (Le Blues) and other top contenders will be waiting. If he maintains this level, they will have to run like the wind to catch him.
