LA PLATA.- For Lo Dejo Todo (54 kg.), the streak of near-misses is finally over. After finishing second in five consecutive starts, the Le Blues colt returned to the winner’s circle Thursday over a rain-soaked La Plata track, taking the Especial Intense Look contested at 1000 meters.

Carrying 54 kilos for Stud Unión Apeadero, the chestnut benefited from a savvy ride by Elías Martínez, who kept him glued to the rail throughout, saving ground and ignoring the punishing pace set by Arrosto (Manipulator, 52), as Miguel A. O. Sosa tried to make full use of the weight advantage.

The frontrunner blazed through early fractions of :23.73 and :47.29, opening up a clear lead turning for home. But the final furlong proved too long, and along the inside, Lo Dejo Todo surged past at the 150-meter mark, taking command decisively.

The finish was comfortable, with the winner crossing the wire two lengths clear of Arrosto, who held second by a neckover Oro Azteca (Empire Aztec, 52). The final time of 1:00.26 was solid given the heavy track, which held up well after the storm.

Trained by Luis A. GorleroLo Dejo Todo earned the fifth win of his 17-start career, and his second at the stakes level, having captured last year’s Clásico Telescópico on the dirt at San Isidro.

Could the Clásico Ciudad de La Plata, set for November 19, be his next target?
